BOSCH GCM12SD 15 Amp 12 Inch Corded Dual-Bevel Sliding Glide Miter Saw with 60 Tooth Saw Blade

I've had a Ryobi 8 1/2 inch slide miter saw for nearly 30 years. Compact. Crosscuts a 2x12. Lightweight. Dead accurate. And did I say compact? But the slide mechanism requires a bench about 32 inches deep to allow for its travel. With the Bosch it can be mounted on a bench about 20 inches deep, which in a small shop saves a ton of floor space. The price is very good, especially when compared to the Festool model at three times the price, which also requires you to buy their blades as the arbor is metric. The Bosch a good value for the money. It will come to you out of square and the squaring up process is tedious at best. And changing a blade is even worse. You have to hold your left foot correctly and bite your tongue to change a blade. It is like a lawyer wrote the directions. I finally blew it off and just removed the blade guard without following the instructions. Turn this screw precisely two turns and this other one six turns. If you don't Jupiter will explode. The instructions were about that tedious. With my old Ryobi you pushed the blade lock button and removed the blade nut . Finally, the Bosch comes set up to cut framing lumber. You'll want to buy a Freud 100 tooth carbide blade for about 55 bucks and put that rough cutting supplied blade aside for when you want to build a barn. Don't get me wrong, it is a good saw, well designed, but huge in size and weight. And when you push the "on" button hold on as the torque throws the saw up a couple inches at start up. I would give the saw a rating for "sheerness" but WTF is that in relation to a power tool? Isn't that something to do with pantyhose???? Come on Amazon, how about replacing that with "value for the dollar?"

I am not a miter saw expert by any means, and have very limited experience using them, but this Bosch miter saw is really phenomenal, it has every feature I can think of on it, it looks amazing when you put it together, and it runs so smooth. The machine does not make that much noise when it runs and cuts through material with zero effort, the cuts are also really smooth with the included 60 tooth saw (although I did buy a 80 tooth one) but there are no chips on the wood and really smooth edge. I use the clamp it came with to tighten down any wood I'm working with so it doesn't move but I'm still really impressed by the quality of the cuts. If you have a woodworking hobby and need to make sure pieces are square this is really a great saw for that. I also get the sense it's built really high quality and will probably last a lifetime.

My first review for any product, this saw is worth the time.I’ll start by saying I’m sorry to those of you who had some issue with your Bosch saw, but the positive reviews far out numbered the negative, on amazon and the net.I’ve wanted one since they first came out but just couldn’t pull the trigger at 650 bucks but when the price hit under 545 I hit buy it now.I’ve had it for a week before I could actually unbox it. So here goes.Saw came on time, undamaged and was well packaged from the manufacturer. It comes fully assembled other than the detent adjustment knob, less than 10 seconds to install. Everting in the box that’s supposed to be there. Read the instruction manual, well worth the time, very clear and concise especially on saw setup. Took less than an hour to go through the calibration process. It was virtually spot on right out of the box, I made one slight adjustment that’s it. It was 1/32 of an inch out on a 90 degree cut on A 1x12, less than a minute with on board Allen wrench, fixed. It comes with a decent 60 tooth blade, but I’ll will change it out for a 80 or 100 tooth blade.I’m gonna say this thing is a beast, it is a substantial well engineered tool. Read some complaints about the weight, yes it is heavy, put it on the Bosch zero gravity stand, or permanently mount it in your shop, problem solved. I’ve been to a lot of job sites and the good contractors have their saws mounted on a stand. Honestly having a saw that can’t be tossed around to me is a good thing.I will be mounting it on the Bosch stand and down the road adding the Fastcap best fence when I finish my work shop.It probably wouldn’t be a complete review if I didn’t ding it a little. The work piece hold down does leave a little to be desired, it needs a sliding adjustment to go along with the screw down adjustment knob. Very minor in my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions. Enough said.I’m very impressed and can’t wait to put it to work.
