Bolt is great
This is a fantastic bolt. It’s extremely sturdy and well made and feels like it will hold up for quite some time. It was easy to fix to the gate and opens and closes smoothly. I didn’t use the padlock that I got included as it did feel quite flimsy and as I added this to my back gate I wanted something a bit more secure. Overall extremely happy with the bolt, star lost for the padlock.

Good Heavy Duty Gate Latch with Bad Padlock
This is good quality, heavy duty gate latch.Workmanship is excellent - all parts move smoothly as they should.The metal is stainless steel (so shouldn't rust), and is coated in black corrosion resistant paint.The padlock which comes with the set is fairly poor quality... The key is fiddly to go inside, the key often doesn't turn without a vigorous wriggle, and there is no spring to push open the U when you finally get the padlock undone. Not good !!Also, unlike many other bolt latches, the bolt knob can't be slotted & secured up or down when the bolt is closed, so you should be sure that the latch cannot be reached with stretched fingers, which might be able to wobble the bolt open. The only thing stopping the bolt from opening will be the padlock. You could also use a large nail.So, a good quality gate latch, but I won't be using the padlock which comes with it.
