This is a great product for someone with digestive problems related to lack of sufficient bile production, as I have been. Forgive me, but discussion of this topic must, by its nature, be a little less than genteel. So here goes. My natural pharmacist diagnosed the root cause of my health problems as the inability of my digestive system (liver, duodenum, etc.) to release bile when needed. He explained that bile is fundamental to the digestive process. The bile mixes with the food in your stomach to create a kind of "slurry" as preparation for the food's journey through the large and small intestines. As this "slurry" travels through the intestines, it releases nutrients to the body through the walls of the intestines; it also receives toxins from the body through the intestine walls for elimination from the body. If it's not working properly, many, many health problems arise over time, as happened to me. For the supplement to be effective, my pharmacist advised me to drink lots and lots of water with it (not other liquids, just water.) This is very important. Occasionally when I've not remembered to drink enough water, the supplement lost significant effectiveness. Interestingly, with my disorder, without this supplement, it doesn't matter how much water I drink, I am still constipated for days and days on end and sometimes for a week or more. I tried everything to treat this constipation. Nothing ever "really" worked. Now, for the first time in my life, using A-F Betafood supplementation, my digestion runs like a smooth, well-oiled machine. I am much healthier now, and I feel lighter, more energetic, and have less bulk around my middle. Friends and family tell me I look better, too. I continue to eat very healthy, as I always have, with lots of vegetables, fruit, proteins, natural grains, and minimal amounts of processed foods. For me personally, this product has been a "miracle" product. Unfortunately, no medical doctor was ever able to help me with this problem, each one saying, in essence, that people all have different elimination habits and I shouldn't worry about it ... i.e., live with it. It took a natural heath practitioner to uncover the root problem and then prescribe something to make me well. A-F Betafood has truly rejuvenated my life. I am so grateful! I expect I will now have more years of vibrant good health to enjoy my 10 grandchildren!

I don't write many reviews, but am compelled to do so in this case.I started taking these because my acid reflux had become unbearable and anything I tried either had no impact or was temporary relief at best. Drugs like Omeprazole worked (somewhat) during the course, but my symptoms quickly reverted back after. My acid reflux was so bad I would get it after drinking water. I was fearful of developing serious damage to my esophagus after having dealt with the issue for multiple years.I tried probiotics. Obviously those have their place, but it didn't help my acid reflux. I was desperate and I found these - they had good ratings, so I tried them.About a week after starting to take them, my acid reflux was gone. Completely. No sign at all as long as I continued to take these with food and not eat terribly. The only time I got reflux was when I ate very poorly, and even then, it was minor at worst.I have been taking them now for about four months and I am to the point where I don't even take them with every meal. Maybe once a day, like a maintenance thing. Sometimes I miss a day. But I get almost NO reflux at all. This supplement has been a MIRACLE for me! My gallbladder was so inflamed that I could not sleep on my back or right side. I was in continual pain and the muscles on the right side of my back clenched up into painful spasms. The pain went all the way up into my shoulder, neck and even the back of my skull. Had I gone to a western doctor, he would have no doubt removed my gallbladder on the spot. I didn’t take that route because removing the gall bladder just moves the problem into the liver AND bile just empties continually into the small intestine, which causes diarrhea. I really wanted to avoid all that, so I searched for a natural solution. I went to a naturopath, Dr. Troy Phillipson, here in Milwaukee and he put me on A-F Betafood, which helped to open up and clear out my bile duct. I had to eat a low-fat diet for about 6 weeks while taking 3 A-F Betafood with each meal. The pain slowly diminished over about 6 weeks. At 8 weeks, Dr. Troy said I should add good fats back into my diet. At one point I tried some mayo that was made from soy oil and had a terrible inflammation reaction. I had to back off of fats for about 3 days and then try again. For olive oil, Dr. Troy recommended Kirkland Olive Oil from Costco and that works great. No pain! Kerrygold butter is another great oil which works great. Without the A-F Betafood, I would now be missing a gallbladder and have all the same symptoms only in my liver. This supplement saved my gallbladder and brought about the healing I needed. I will always take this supplement! BTW - some reviews say to chew these instead of just swallowing. They taste a little like graham crackers so you won't mind the flavor!
