Fantastic selection! I am able to recreate all the lab experiments in my intro to logic design at university at home with this kit! Fantastic! The IC chips at my university are unreliable because students tend to toast the chips. Being able to take my time and do the labs at home with ICs that actually work has really helped me learn. I've used a good number and variety of the IC chips in this kit and they all work great! For my last lab we used (2 )74LS74 Dual D-type flip flops (2) 74LS153 Dual 4-1 Multiplexers and (1) 74LS04 Hex Inverter to make a universal shift register. This kit had ALL the IC's needed plus 2 actual 74LS153 Bi-directional universal shift registers. I havent messed with those yet but I'm confident they work fine.

This has a decent selection of ICs. I need led a couple of different ones and it was cheaper to order this than the individual chips and pay for shipping. Probably won't ever use some of them, but it is great for the ones I do need and every one I have used so far has worked without issue.

half the chips are fried, not sure if its from static bouncing around in the container or what. theyre going back

Been through most of them by now, almost all work, all of them were legit and no fake rebrands from China. Only thing they could do better is put the chips in esd foam so legs don't break and cause you to waist 20 minutes getting them soldered back on well enough to be reliable on a breadboard.

All the chips are loose in case with no static protection so that is a concern. During shipment ICs migrate into other compartments so there is a lengthy sorting operation in your future. Do yourself a favor and order some anti-static foam. This will protect the chips and help keep them organized. I give the kit 5 stars for selection and the forethought to include IC sockets. The sockets alone are worth about 25% of the price but the risk of static damage and the need to sort all the chips means I can only rate it at 3 stars

These take me back to my Radio Shack days when I would scour the catalog looking for 74-series TTL chips for my next project. Along with a breadboard and some jumper wires, you can start prototyping some fun little projects with minimal external programming. As easy as it is to grab an Arduino, MSP430, or RP2040 based chip to do simple things (blink LED, counter outputting to a seven segment LED), it's awesome to be able to use "real" chips to do the heavy lifting!Note that TTL logic is all 5V based. I use a bench power supply to generate the 5V Vdd, but I have seen solutions using USB-A ports. I would avoid overloading a USB-A port because TTL chips tend to be pretty power hungry for the little work they do.I love the selection provided with this package: logic gate, latches, flip-flops, mux/demux, counters, decoders, shift regs, etc. This would have been a dream kit for me back during my Radio Shack days! A huge plus is that they included some DIP sockets for any applications where you would want to solder down an IC.So far I have tried some of the logic gates to manually set the input values (Vdd or Gnd for 1 or 0), and I monitor the outputs with LEDs. These are a great way to revisit the roots of semiconductor development, I believe the 74-series is a remnant from the 1960's semiconductor industry that are still used widely today!

I love the variety of this kit. You get most of the common chips for fixing arcade game PCBs which helps with troubleshooting. There are a few common ones missing so bought those and put them in place of the sockets. The sockets are machine (round) style and not something I would use for arcade board repair but that’s a personal preference.These are noticeably lighter than original chips. The legs are thinner so I expect they aren’t as durable. But good for the price. I’ll use these to test (in a socket) and then buy better quality once a bad chip is confirmed.My biggest gripe is they are not organized in numerical order! I made a chart and taped it on the inside lid to make my life easier.Good kit, worth the price as a testing tool.
