Simple and Elegant

This is my (n+1)th keyboard, so I did not expect too much of it. First thought was that I try it in the office for a day and then shelf it for occasional use. Somehow, however, it remained in active use ever since. Of course, it also helps that at home I have a G910, so the key feel and the extra column of keys on the left is nothing new. The major difference is that the G910 looks the part, whereas the G613 has a simple elegance that does not stand out in an office environment.First, I had some trepidation: there is no back-lighting. Is this going to be OK especially with heavily overcast sky or at dusk? Luckily the answer turned out to be yes. I have two monitors and their light is amply enough to see the key legends. And of course there are some fears (based on other reviews) that only time can tell if they come true: easily losing signal after a few months of usage? I cannot tell yet. The stencilled legends wearing off easily? Too early to tell. But now the more technical aspects listed:-- Build quality: very good. However, compared to its heftiness the flex is surprisingly high. The rubber feet and the weight of the keyboard keeps it firmly in place. Some people complain about its size and heaviness: for me, these are positive features. I even have a Unicomp Model M, so you can guess my taste.-- Noise level: definitely louder than the G910 (whitch has the same type of key switches). The space bar and the (ISO) Enter key especially stand out as rattly, which, again, are not the case with the G910. The case, although relatively thin, somehow amplifies the key noise. But if you can type softly, that is, you are relaxed and the tactile feedback guides your key presses, than it is not noisy at all. It is only when there is silence around you that you will concentrate on the noise you make.-- The extra keys: if you rely heavily on the edge position of your keys, the extra column needs some getting used to. Hitting G1->F1 instead of an Escape is especially irritating. So, some patience is needed. Of course, a gamer may find these keys useful. (I am using the keyboard without the software.)-- Switching between wireless and Bluetooth: really fast. After you have set up a new pairing, you will have practically no wait time when switching between the two devices. The mobile stand is especially useful in this respect.-- Key caps: they are special, rare key caps not even Logitech offers spare ones at the time of writing this review. The caps might be compatible with other Romer-G key caps but the ones I found were made for back-lit keyboards, so the light-off readability is rather poor. So the current best advice: take good care of your key caps you can never tell when replacements will be available on the market.Would I recommend this keyboard? Yes definitely. I would encourage prospective buyers, however, to look up some one and two star reviews too to see what problems may pop up during longer term usage.

Too heavy, Too large, Annoyingly placed G keys, but feels great to type on.

I've used this now for 3 months to leave a fair review.I bought this keyboard because I use my computer on the lounge TV from the sofa and from bed using a Raspberry Pi with Nvidia game stream. So I needed a keyboard with a built-in wrist wrest, that has both low latency wireless and Bluetooth for the Raspberry Pi. I also needed it to be strong as I've now broken 3 Logitech MK620s and two Logitech MK270s from being dropped of getting spilt on. Mechanical or LED wasn't a feature I was looking for but I am now a convert. It's comfortable for me and I'm no longer hammering hard on cheap membrane keys. My finger joints are grateful. It's not without its flaws though. As others have said, the G key placement is SUPER FRUSTRATING! I'm forever hitting G1 when wanting to press escape in AutoCAD which is a frequent keypress and been in my muscle memory for years, so I had to bind G1 to escape. Same goes for shift and ctrl with G5 and G6. The G keys also make this keyboard wider. This caused problems in trying to find a portable table for the sofa and bed as most are quite narrow. I wish Logitech put the G keys above or as part of the function keys. 30 years of PC gaming has given me muscle memory to use the numbers or F keys. These G keys are simply out of reach of my pinky finger when using WSAD.It's heavy. Really heavy. It's not going to budge when on your lap or desk, that's for sure but it's definitely filled with steel or lead or something. I've never had a keyboard this heavy. It's a pro and con. It's noisy, but then most mech keyboards are. This is personal preference but I love the office style subdued grey none gaming look. I absolutely despise the current trend of making gaming keyboards edgy and flashy. This keyboard would look well placed in an office setting and in fact, I will be buying another for just that purpose. However, despite my dislike for RGB this keyboard could've done with either glow in the dark silk-screened caps, or backlit caps for use in the dark. I touch type though so lack of backlight is no issue to me.While on the subject of silkscreen printed keycaps, all my previous Logitech keyboard key characters rubbed off. I was worried about this on this keyboard but so far after well over 100,000 words typed I've not noticed any fading, even though the commonly used keys are becoming polished and shiny. For the price, I would expect the key characters to not be silk-screened and be moulded into the plastic for long life.Being able to switch between Bluetooth and the super low latency Logitech dongle at the push of a button is SO convenient. Pairing is easy too, and I've even paired to my 10-inch tablet for Nvidia Game Streaming using the Moonlight app.The lack of backlight or glow in the dark keycaps, the G key placement, and the non-detachable wrist rest does make this keyboard imperfect though. So that's my reason for 4 stars. This keyboard matches the Logitech G603 mouse perfectly. I wish they were offered together for a slight discount.
