This is a well built and finished product comparable to any competitors. Lift operation is smooth and solid. There is no apparent backlash and it offers an effective and convenient locking mechanism, affording good adjustment precision. The indexing readout is also effective and convenient to use and zero out. The crank is located well in front of the router and with its long shaft allows manual operation that clears typical fences in any position without interference. The table insert provides a perfect standard fit and adjustment.

I like my Bosch RA1181 table but the lift mechanism RA1165 is terrible. I have gone through two of them with lost split pins and proposed fixes are marginal at best. And no matter what you do, you have to get your hand under the table to change out the bit as the router does not raise high enough to get the bottom spanner in place. So I wanted to replace it with a better lift but there is nothing with a plate that is the right size for the RA1181.So I took a chance and bought this one thinking I could trim the aluminium base with my table saw to fit. I shaved a few mm off each edge leaving just enough so that the levelling set screws still worked and it fit pretty much perfectly. The actual inset on the table itself isn't exactly square and there is some thick paint making it a bit uneven so some scraping of the table could have made the fit even better. But I'm very happy with it as is. It's perfectly level, the 3.5" 1617 router raises up and down without issue and it goes high enough to change the bit with ease. The other benefit is that I can close up the front and back of the table and get better dust collection. Previously I had a lot of dust drop down below the table and I couldn't close it up as I had to leave access from below to change the bit.The only minor niggle is that the bent wire tool for changing the plastic inserts is too flexible but this can easily be remedied with a handle or a replacement. It's a very simple tool.Overall I'm very happy with my setup now. I don't think you can get an aluminium topped lift without spending considerably more. I see a lot more routing in my future.

This lift does not fit Bosch router table. 1/4" too large; I am returning. It is a quality lift but the photo on their webpage showing it in the Bosch table should be removed. O'SKOOL reache out to inform me that I ordered the wrong lift for the Bosch RA1181 table and would let me know when the right lift is back in stock. Good customer service and quick communication.

I always balked at pricing of these type contraptions but WOW! I Installed in to a newly fabricated router table (take your time and do it properly and you'll be rewarded) and am I loving this lift system. Precision built and components. Money well spent

First, This is made in Taiwan and not china. What a difference that makes. I didn't pay attention to that when I purchased it. When I got the box and opened it I was in shock at the quality, the weight, the perfect detail. I thought to myself "wow maybe china is finally starting to care about the quality of the products they ship out into the world." I was really looking it over and was stunned. Then I grabbed the box to move it and saw something on the box and it said Made in Taiwan. I instantly knew then why it was 100% quality. It was not made from a country that cuts corners and uses trash material to then sell it to other countries with no worries about filling landfills with cheap toxic junk that does not have any sense of quality what so ever. From a country known for their motors and electronic superiority they mad a simple router lift with that same quality in mind. Hats off to this company for selling a product you can be proud of. I will be the first to say it. I would rather pay more for something this quality than pay less for something that is knowingly just junk.

Unit is precise and fits my DeWalt 3.5” dia. router perfectly, enabling me to easily swap bits and make adjustments above the table. My only gripe is that the rotation crank handle seems a bit wonky when attempting to raise or lower the router any distance rapidly. I’ve taken to using a small drill at low torque with a hex-head bit in lieu of the handle. The value point is really nice for the high quality and design when compared to much higher priced “brand named” units. Also, comes with wide supply of plates and very clear instructions. Agreed that this is one of those jigs that you don’t know you needed it until you find you can’t do without it.

I have had this router lift for 6 months now and it’s no longer useable. It worked great the first 5 months until it failed. You can longer raise or lower the router without it jumping up and down making precise adjustments impossible. There are bushings that are supposed to stay in place on the guide rails that have come loose causing this. I’ve tried contacting O’SKOOL Tools twice now via email to see if it’s covered under any warranty and they will not get back to me. From now on I’ll be sticking with the more well known brands that provide customer service and take care of their customers
