I got this for my 9ft table umbrella. Although the manufacturer clearly states to only use sand and not use water, a huge amount of the consumer reviews here mention using water works perfectly well for them. So I filled my base to the brim with water and tried it. Even in the slightest, weakest breeze, my umbrella wants to go flying. The base with water is not nearly enough, at least not for my umbrella. I’m positive that if there was ever more than a light breeze, my umbrella will be gone and it will take the table with it if it has to.I am giving 4 stars because the manufacturer specifically says to use sand and not water. Will the sand be significantly heavier than the water, I do not know. I am probably going to go pick up some sand bags and just put them on top of the water-filled base in hopes that this stabilizes it a little better.

Item as described and super quick shipping! Can use sand or water to fill but I would recommend water over sand. When filled with water, umbrella will stay in place and very stable. Thank you!

I updated my review to 5 stars after receiving a very prompt call back from Amanda in customer service after leaving a msg on the customer service line enclosed in the shipping box. A black umbrella base plug should be on its way to me.This is a really nice umbrella base, and I really like the handle which makes it much easier to move around. Unfortunately, mine was missing the fill hole plug, which has been mentioned in other reviews. I left a message on the customer service line and am awaiting a response. The missing plug caused my 4 vs 5 star rating.

After using this for a month, the plastic warped where you insert the umbrella, so the umbrella sits at about 30 degrees. It looks ridiculous. We did have a couple 90 degree days, but I wouldn’t expect plastic like this to melt… After attempting to push the warp back into place (photo taken after this attempt, it’s slightly more straight) the plastic cracked and now will not hold any water. I wouldn’t waste my money- I thought I was getting a deal, and now I have to buy a $70 one in addition to this $30 one. Wish I had opted for better quality from the start.
