How do you make the doorbell chime work with Alexa/Echo?

Alexa can announce the following Nest camera and doorbell events:
- Doorbell press: Alexa announces when someone presses a Nest Doorbell (battery). Some Alexa devices with a display also automatically stream live view from the doorbell.
- Motion detection: Alexa announces when a Nest camera or doorbell detects motion.

Turn on doorbell press announcements:
- Open the Google Home app > touch and hold your doorbell's tile.
- Tap Settings > Doorbell.
- Turn on visitor announcements.
- You can now turn doorbell press announcements on or off in the Alexa app.

Turn on motion detection announcements
- Open the Partner Connections Manager and then check that you're signed in to the Google Account that you used to set up your doorbell in the Google Home app.
- Select Amazon Alexa > turn on "Events" for each camera or doorbell that you want to use for motion detection announcements.
- To add new devices, say "Alexa, discover my devices."
- Open the Google Home app > tap your doorbell.
- Tap Settings > Events >Seen events.
- Turn on motion events and notifications.
- You can now turn motion detection announcements on or off in the Alexa app under "Device Settings."

Can you turn off the sound on the doorbell press? So it only sounds in the house not externally as I have a shared hallway.

Hi there. Thanks for reaching out. While the doorbell has multiple sound options that can be adjusted the outdoor sound the doorbell makes when pressing the button on it can't be disabled. This is always on to let anyone that presses know that the doorbell is active. Does anyone know if this can be converted to be used for wired ?

Yes. You can connect your doorbell to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter. Please note that the power adapter included with the Nest Doorbell (battery) is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use. You can also connect your Nest doorbell to the doorbell system wires if you have one. Connecting to continuous power will keep the battery charged.
