Works as advertised. Original Formula. (long).

65 years old, good health, man, I have had the typical middle-insomnia problem for about 10 years. I oscillated between resigning to it as an "old man thing" and trying to fight it off with different types of products, OTC sleep-aids, melatonin but stayed off Rx because of the cycle of dependence I have seen developing in people who used it regularly. I stayed off of psychotropics such as Trazodone as well for the same reasons. I struggled to understand whether this was depression or anxiety and finally settled for high/dysfunctional cortisol levels due to chronic stress (e.g. parents getting old and dependent, buying a large house, other life issues). Since I can't change my life to remove the stress, I looked around for cortisol agonists and found Seriphos.I noticed a change starting the first night with one capsule. The effect was not magical (i.e. full night of restful sleep) but did make a difference in that my awakenings were shorter and the depressive thoughts that invariably came with it (i.e. "negative auto-brooding") took a superficial tone and evaporated rapidly. I also noticed that my dreams, for the first couple of weeks at least, were less intense but much longer and wide-ranging. This was very surprising to me: it felt like I was catching up with dream-work somehow . I am now over 1 month into it and the 2/3 am awakening has become very variable and very brief. I wake up fully rested even if some nights, I have the feeling of not sleeping very smoothly. Gradually, I came to trust the effect, which probably reinforces it. Zero side-effects for me. Depending on one's metabolism, there will be some trial and error as to when to take it. I take it at around 9. The catch is to have the effect kick in at or just before the usual awakening time. This product does work and there is a simple, clear and logical explanation of why it does so that the placebo effect cannot account entirely for its efficacy.I reached the point where I am planning how to discontinue. I decided for 6 weeks of use. The hope, of course, is that the effect will continue, although, since the cortisol hypothesis has been confirmed in my case, chronic stress will likely take over eventually (until I change my life!). It will be interesting to see how long it takes and if there are any other changes.

Definitely Helpful

Definitely has an effect... Did it immediately cure my night time waking problems (and can't fall back asleep) that I've had for about 11 years...No.I think its important to note that even though, for some, it might have allowed them to sleep immediately, its more realistic to think of this as part of a package to help you on the road to getting better.I've taken this for about 3 weeks now. The first week I started with one just before I went to bed. You might notice it makes you feel a bit strange at first, or when you increase dosage, but after a few days it goes away unless you are taking too much. I gradually increased it to 3 at one time before I went to bed and one when I'd wake up.....but I found it was affecting how I felt during the day.The key is that you'll have to play around with the dosages a bit, however if your issue is waking up at night between 12-2:30 then I would suggest you take one pill around 6pm and then another around 8-9 pm ...if you go to bed 10pm. Taking this did not consistently help me until I also started taking 1000mg of L-Tryptophan right at bedtime. Without the L-Tryptophan I found that I still woke up. though I still did feel better overall. The combination of the both of them has definitely helped and it seems that the longer I take a consistent dosage, my sleep gradually gets a bit better. I'm not cured by any means as it's only been 3 weeks, but I've noticed the last several days I'd wake up in the night but I would fall back asleep...I'd wake up again, fall asleep again...choppy but progress. Last night I woke up later and fell back asleep. It has been said that it can take a month to begin to have an effect, so I would suggest that you take it consistently for the first month without too much expectation. Note that this is for those with an over production of cortisol. If your sleep problems started during a stressful period, and has not corrected itself despite everything you've tried...then this is a good place to start. If you have any questions, feel free to leave them and I'll help you out as best I can. Like I mentioned, I've had this problem for around 11 years and I feel like I've finally have some hope of finally getting this fixed. Still a ways to go, but at least I see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Didn't work for me taking right before bed - but earlier in the day

I first tried this for sleep - when I took it before bed, it gave me insomnia. I read to take it 4 -6 hours before bed - still didn't sleep. Moved to taking it about midday and it did seem to help me get to sleep better. Its an expensive supplement, so I am going to keep taking it - supposed to also work for add, depression and brain function. It seems to help me get to sleep faster and also I feel more clear headed since taking it.

It worked!

I have had adrenal fatigue for years with not too much to work with advice out there, as conventional doctors do not handle this issue. I have used numerous adaptogens which have worked, but slowly. It took 2 years to get my PM hours back to normal. I was so tired of being tired I looked again to find something that worked faster. I am so pleased with Seriphos. It worked in 5 weeks. The side effect was insomnia, unfortunately, which was frustrating. About twice a week, I would to to bed and not sleep till 3am. Stopped Seriphos at 5 weeks with good results. Started again about a month later as my cortisol started to creep up. I am taking one on a Tuesday morning, then one on a Friday morning and Saturday morning for maintenance, which is also working well. My cortisol rarely overheats me and is mostly calm, along with no insomnia. Seriphos is not a cure, it is a cortisol lowering adaptogen. You still must follow a lifestyle change along with other nutrients that your adrenals need in order to get back to normal. Seriphos will give you a lift out of exhaustion so that you can feel some hope that you will regain your energy and be normal.

Fabulous product

I take this supplement at night when heading to bed. My sleep has improved immensely. If I wake up in the night, I am now able to go back to sleep without difficulty. I haven’t had any side effects, the capsules are easy to swallow.
