works better than others.

Works great. Dual controls for air flow. Great that there is only one small filter to chance and very cheap to purchase. Loved it so much I bought a second one for my bedroom.

great product for the price

this works great and is easy to clean. Puts out alot of mist. My cat hates it, hates the gentle noise it makes and thinks its a demon coming to get us. Its very sturdy because it held up no problem when my cat attacks it. Great product.

It’s GREAT... ONCE you find the right location and settings. Patience required.

Ok, so this thing took some figuring out and a call to CS to figure out how to make this effective. I read some of the reviews that the humidity gage was off so I bought 3 small humidity readers for our room to see how those compared to the reading on the humidifier. You HAVE to make sure the directional circles are BOTH pointing AWAY from the sensor to get an accurate reading, otherwise it’ll read anywhere from 10-20% TOO HIGH. The sensor is on the side near the essential oil thingy so I have this on the very front edge of my dresser facing sideways with the essential oil thing facing the wall. Since I moved it here and spent a few days tinkering w the mist direction, the other sensors in our room and the humidifier have been almost dead on. Oh also, you’ll need to be mindful of where the air flow in your space is guiding the mist because that will also play into how you need to position the directional circles.NEEDS TO BE ELEVATED! We have a small table and that didn’t seem to allow the mist to spread around well enough so I put in on the dresser. With the most recent change I made I may try this again though because...... USE warm/hot mist. At least that’s what we needed to do to get the humidity to raise more than just 5%. Once I increased the temp (I have it set to full temp and full mist) we can easily get to our desired humidity, which for my partner and I is 50%. I set it at 55% so grant once it drops to 50% it turns on again. Our room at the moment, naturally, is between 29-35% and that’s just too dry for both of us and the cool mist *maybe* got it to 40%. The hotter mist shoots out much higher and stays in the air much longer so I *may* try using that small table again since it’s an ugly eyesore on my dresser. Some other things the instructions recommend, which I didn’t pay attention to until after our first night - def don’t put it near windows bcs even double pane can suck out stuff and it makes it less effective. Also we had them about 5’ from our only two heater vents so i moved it to a location prob 12’ away from those and also, consequently, our bay windows. Now we’re a few nights in and waking up to 50-55% humidity wo dry sinuses and scratchy throats so I feel confident in recycling the box now.For reference, our master bedroom is about 450-500sqft and has a very open floor plan. It’s long and goes directly from our bedroom into an open hall that has our small walk in closet, which has no doors, and at the end of the hall it opens into our bathroom. The only door goes to the toilet room, which is at the furthest corner so we have a pretty long space that can take up the humidity. As for noise, the warm mist is louder than the cool but it’s not a bother to me or my partner. We have an air purifier on a low setting near my corner of the room too bcs I need constant white noise and enjoy clean air and it’s not much louder than that. The woman I spoke to in customer service was super friendly too and def helped me troubleshoot getting the humidity to be in the 50-55 range.

Easy to use with a minor drawbacks!

I have two of these and a Pure Guardian H3200WCA. I like the Levoit much better because the water tank is very stable when filling it where the Pure Guardian must be balanced as the filling port is on the opposite side of the curved tank. I had to roll a towel up from two edges to form a trough to hold the tank steady. The Levoit has a flat top and bottom. You turn it over and remove the lid, pour in the water and put the lid back in. The only drawback is the Levoit has blue lights that cannot be shut off, which makes it harder to sleep if this is used in a bedroom. A final comment the Levoit has yet to grow the red bacteria found in my area where the Pure Guardian seems to be a breeding ground for it. The bacteria is harmless but does require cleaning to avoid a slime build up.Over the two weeks we have had this unit the aromamizer fan became noisy and when I tried to disable it I found that Levoit does not build their products to be repaired. Three of the screws were conventional Phillips the third, buried deep in a hole, proved to be an number 15 Torx. Now the only sound is from the hum of the power supply and it was muffled by stuffing 1 1/2 cotton balls into the aromamizer port.I am a strong supporter of requiring products to be built to be serviceable by the owner. As an IEEE Fellow and amateur machinist I feel it wrong to make me spend $200 to fix something I could fix is 15 minutes. Boo! Levoit. But it is a good humidifier:-)Six month update: We bought a second one to keep up with the cold, dry winter. It is easy to fill, which is good given the number of gallons we run through it a day. Both units have a strong tendency to race the fan motor just after filling the reservoir and make a lot of noise. A few whacks to the side solves the problem. If the unit had a filling port on top it would be easier to fill and the fan probably would not get into the race condition.Update: The solution to the race condition is to unplug the unit when filling it. Do not use the on/off key because the unit runs until the water inside the unit is exhausted. If unplugged the water level remains and when restarted - no race noise! It also helps to add water to the base before putting the tank on.Update: The original units are getting too noisy, but because they are so easy to use and effective be have bought two new ones that appear to be slightly different. No motor racing noise yet but a high pitched hum has forced us to move them to more remote locations in the house, where they work fine and keep the house at 40% humidity.Update: Had trouble with one of the valves in the tank. Called Levoit and a new cap with valve was sent promptly. No hassle at all.Update #2: They have been in continuous operation for about 8 months, putting about 4 gallons of water into the air every day. No problems, but we did notice that initially there was red growth growing on the bottom side of the tank and the top of the base unit. We rinsed the surfaces with near-boiling water and after three rinses a week apart, the problem was gone. Still have to clean it periodically though. The red stuff is probably a bacteria, Serratia marcescens, which likes moist environments. It can cause infections, so keep it under control if you get it. We're still loving the units we got in 2018 and finding the tanks from the 2017 units useful as we keep them filled and swap the tanks, then refill at our convenience. Levoit should consider selling spare tanks.

I believe this is a high quality product

This is a great humidifier. I have hardwood floors and there was some cupping so I purchased this to keep the humidity in the house between 30% - 50%. So far I'm staying between 35% -43% and I'm slowly seeing the cupping in the floor get smaller. It has a great application and you can run it manually, or on automatic. It holds 6 gallons of water and if it runs out, it will shut itself down. Then you can click on dry and if you use the shorter time to dry out the filters, it will be done in 30 minutes. It comes with a nice flexible hose to fill the base with and on one end it can be attached to a tub and it allows you to fill the base up fairly quickly. It even has a sleep mode so you if it happens to be in a bedroom with you, you can click on sleep and although it is still running, you can't hear it.The application also keeps track of what percentage remains on your four filters so you know when to change them.I have no complaints at all with this unit.
