Q: Can you tell me what type of smoke I should use to test the alarm, I want to know if the alarm is working properly before I install it?

I do wonder if this wouldn't invalidate warranty if you did that, there is a test button to prove the alarm. Alternatively, leave it in the kitchen when doing a fry up without any extractor or open windows, that should trigger it 🙃

Q: I bought this alarm thinking it would show a blue led display, it only shows a display when i click ‘test’ and it’s not blue. does flash a green light

The LCD display will only be backlit if the carbon monoxide concentration reaches 30 ppm or higher, the battery is low, or if there is any malfunction. Otherwise, a green light will flash, indicating the alarm is in standby mode and is working properly.

Q: Do these meet the new Scottish regulations?

I was wanting to know the same thing, but I suspect they don't comply for two reasons: 1. The regulations state that "if you use battery alarms, they must be sealed tamper-proof units and have long-life lithium batteries, which can be up to 10 years." These X-Sense alarms have a replaceable battery, so I suspect that means they won't meet the standard. 2. I've been unable to find an interlinked X-Sense heat alarm, which is mandatory to meet the new Scottish rules. Such a shame as these compact units look fantastic.
