Worked on the first try
I've been meaning to buy one of these chargers and when my father's battery died in his car I finally ordered one. I can't believe this thing actually worked. It's so small and the battery was very dead in the car. Started right up first try. The only thing I've noticed is it doesn't charge past 79%. It came charged at 79%. I plugged it in for a few hours, Stayed at 79%. after I jumped the car. I plugged it back in still at 79%. But it worked so whatever! The only other thing I noticed is the wall adapter for the charger gets very very warm when it's charging.Super convenient works well. I will be keeping this handy.

Love this!
I've had to use this twice so far to jump start my car. I love the piece of mind it brings knowing that I have it in case I need it. The compact size is wonderful as well to keep anywhere in the car.

Good quality product
Why did I choose this jump starter? It's because I needed a jump starter thata) would be small and light enough that I can carry it in the backpack when on long rides on the motorcycle;b) would be able to start even the largest engine in my garage - my truck.Based on the company's ads, this device should fit the bill. Would it, though? Read on.PHYSICAL APPEARANCE:This unit is BIG. It comes in a nice semi-hard case, approx. 10" x 5" x 4.5" (L x W x H), and weighs in at 3 lbs. The jumper itself is large at 7.5" x 3.5" x 1.75". The pouch is padded inside, and the jumper rests in a foam form that prevents it from moving around...and also protecting it. (I would not throw it away after the first use.)The jumper is separated from the accessories by a flap, which protects it against scratches. On the flap, there is a table with suggestions about the jumper's compatibility with different engine capacities. It's good to have as a reference. The instruction manual, is well written, albeit in a font that is better suited for the legal disclaimer of an advertisement than for an instruction manual. [IMHO (in my humble opinion), fonts below 7 points should be declared illegal. :) ]The accessories are located in a mesh pocket on the other wall of the pouch. They are crammed, and you need to take some time to arrange them back after the use. I would recommend that the user should NOT remove any accessory upon the first time (s)he opens the pouch, but to take a picture of their arrangement for future reference. It would speed up reorganizing the accessories after use.ACCESSORIES:It comes with jumper cables, charging adapters for both outlet and car charging, and a ton of charging adapters for laptops.IMHO, the laptop adapters are useless becausea) charging a laptop from the jumper depletes the jumper's charge, and the user could be left without enough charge in the jumper to start a weak/dead battery;b) there are better ways to recharge a laptop, both at home and on the road, than using your jumper for that. (Besides, who would want to walk around with a brick just to charge his/her laptop?)However, if the user really, really wants to charge the laptop this way, (s)he can get a SINGLE adapter for the laptop rather than carrying around a bunch of useless adapters. That's my opinion; others' mileage may differ.Jumper cables: instead of adding those useless laptop adapters, the manufacturer should have made the jumper cables longer, because THEY ARE SHORT! (See the picture.) I used the unit to start a motorcycle, and I've had a hard time making the connections, because the cables were so short that I could not find a level place in close proximity to rest the unit while I was starting the engine. I've encountered the same situation with one of the cars, a Nissan Altima. So... either carry some masking tape to secure the unit in place when jump starting the engine, or find a way to extend the wires. (I've done the latter.)ADDITIONAL FEATURES:- The lighted LCD screen is clear to see even in the dark, except for those little fonts indicating the voltage output for the laptop. I like it!- The jumper comes with some useless features, like the USB ports to charge phones and a ridiculously small compass. Imagine yourself in the wilderness carrying this unit in your hands and orienting by that compass. LOL! :D- The power connectors have a number of safety features, thus preventing accidental damage of the jumper / car battery / devices. Then, there's this dumb feature found in many Chinese flashlights: the strobe. (I'd call it "idiotic" feature, but I don't know if Amazon would publish this review.) Not only it is useless, its flashing frequency could give you seizures if you activate it at night. Regarding the S.O.S. light signal: how many people out there know the Morse, or even S.O.S., codes?HO IT FARES IN USE:The model DJS50 has the following specs:- Starting current: 300 A (I guess the manufacturer was referring to the CCA - cold crank amps)- Peak current: 600 A- Capacity: 18000 mAh (18 Ah, or Ampere-hour) / 66.6 Wh (Watt-hour).As I mentioned above, I used it to start a 650cc motorcycle having a Yuasa YTX12-BS battery, rated at 10.5Ah (Amp-hour) and 180 CCA (Cold Crank Amps). The bike battery was weak, at 80% charge, and the jump starter was fully charged. The charger stopped turning the starter after about 4 seconds. I waited about 1 minute before the second attempt at starting the engine. It took three attempts before starting the engine. During this time, the jump starter charge dropped to 87%. It took about 1 hour to fully recharge the unit. On the other hand, using a regular 12 Ah, fully charged, battery, I could run the starter non-stop for about 15 seconds, after which I stopped to let it cool down. Based on this experience, I highly doubt the unit has the capacity or the amperage claimed by the manufacturer.FINAL CONCLUSIONThis unit is really nice-looking, made with good-quality materials, and it shows good QA. It has nice features; unfortunately, it also comes with a range of useless features, a mark (as I observed) of many Chinese electrical/electronic products out there. The manufacturer claims the jump starter will start up to an 8-cylinder gas engine. Considering how difficult was to start a motorcycle, I highly doubt it will do the job on starting my truck engine (a 6-cylinder gas engine) which takes a much higher starting current than the motorcycle. The biggest drawback is, IMHO, the lengths of the jumper cables. They are so short that it makes it difficult, and sometimes VERY difficult, to jump start a car or motorcycle. Which is why my rating is one star short. (This, and the strobe nonsense.)I hope I covered everything, and this honest review would be of help.

Life saver for battery issues!
My battery died and I didnt have anyone home to jump me, plus my car was in a hard position to get another car hooked to. My husband came home and popped this on my battery, in less than 45 seconds, it turned over just fine! We bought a 2nd to keep in my car. Small, easy to use, charge lasts a long time. Great product!

This worked for me. Keep it charged, you'll be good.
If you keep the charge above 60% this works. It already paid for itself for me, starting my car on a bitterly cold day when I left my lights on at the market. I was able to top off the charge at 100% by plugging it in on the drive home.

Powerful. Simple. Works.
I only just got this, so I can't rate on longevity. I've used it once, on a 3.5 liter engine with a pretty dead battery (trip odometer and other stuff reset). It worked very well; started up first time, and the crank was brisk as you could hope for. Instructions are dead simple: charge the unit, turn it on, hook the cables to the unit, then hook the clamps to the battery. Start within 30 seconds of that last step, and you're golden.Nice case, good instructions. Glad I got it, glad I have it.I'll be back if it doesn't last, but seems quite nice.

Pump
I believe this is the second one I purchased and it has an on off switch. I believe I’m not looking at it currently which is an important improvement. It also seems to work for nicely on cars on bicycles.it works the first one failed probably because I left the the light on too difficult to turn off
