I'm sure it's a great product, as this is a reputable company
I'm sure it works great, I just ended up not needing it. I bought it to rule out the existing thermostat as the culprit to my AC issues, but discovered while flipping the breaker which the breaker box is directly next to the AC unit, that the AC unit has a compressor leak as soon as I kicked it back on. Nice cold air coming from the outside box. Hot air from the vents inside. Blower also works fine. I figured it out before this even arrived so I just turned it around and sent it back. I need an hvac guy. Not a thermostat. Good thing I know one and have evaporative cooling to hold us over in the meantime.

Didn't get to open it, so more of a review on the product itself having had one before.
I didn't get to use it. I know since I had one before how good these are, even though they do look cheaper than other newer models, these get the job done and work well. Unfortunately, what I thought was a failing thermostat was actually a failing hvac unit... so I now have this back up if I want to replace the one that came with the new set up. Can't go wrong with this brand. Product did arrive in box, new, as advertised and all of that. Quickly, as well.

Good for basic as you can get
I rent a cheap apartment that has an old big square central heater in the kitchen. The thermostat was an old (probably lead and mercury) move a stick from left to right to set the temp. There was some problem with its thermometer: if I set it to 65 degrees the heat would come on for a second but shut off and I’d have to go reset the heater itself to make it fire back up. If I set the temp to 72 my apartment would be like 80 degrees… who wants to pay that heating bill.So I bought this and installed it myself. Super quick and easy. And I’ve never had to reset my heater since. And it regulates the temp so much better. It’s nice to be able to set different temps for different times (like wake up, leave the house, return home, sleep).Cons: there should be some backlighting. It’s 2024, this isn’t an insane techy request. You need to have a light on or use the light from your phone to see the screen because it doesn’t light up. I could see someone wanting to be able to set specific times for each day of the week (for instance even on Saturday it still turns down because it thinks I’m at work), but for me it’s not a big deal. If I need it higher you can just turn it up a couple notches and it will stay at that new temp until the next programmed setting (such as return home, or bedtime). As I said, basic as it gets, no smart features, no backlight, but it does it’s job and it’s saving me money.

Great value for a programmable thermostat ~ easy install
This is programmable thermostat works as it should. This installation is very easy, less than 5 minutes connect it. Instructions are provided and are easy to follow. It is small and the screen is small and it is not backlit. It does everything I need it to. I would recommend it for the price point. You can’t beat it. I am not an electrician or A/C man, easy diy project.

Easy to install and works well
Easy to install and looks nice. Replaced an old thermostat and it’s really nice to be able to set temperatures for different times of the day. Good features for the price point.

Unit is wonky
Unit is wonky. I set it to 68 auto snd the temp in the house sweaters. Thermometer reads 74 degrees F.

Good replacement thermostat
Basic thermostat replacement but works well and easy to program. A bit smaller than my previous thermostat, but luckily I had matching wall paint for a good result.

Grrrr!
There was nothing wrong with my old thermostat except that it didn't indicate the temperature in the house and it needed electricity to operate. I bought this thermostat because it was inexpensive and I wanted a battery backup model so I wouldn't be without heat if the power goes out. I liked that the display was an innocuous gray instead of glaring green or brilliant blue like other thermostats. After having to read the manual to figure out how to set the thermostat to a constant temperature - something I think should be pretty easy to do without reading a manual, I found that this thermostat turns my heater on before the temperature drops to the programmed setting, then it runs the furnace constantly compared to my old manual thermostat set at the same temperature. With this thermostat, the heater runs and runs for approximately 15 minutes at a time (compared to my old thermostat that only ran my heater a few minutes). When the thermostat finally turns the heat off, it registers much higher than the temperature I set it to. If I lowered the setting, my house got much colder than I was used to before my heater turned on and my house still got way too warm by the time the thermostat turned my heater off.Why should I get uncomfortably cold because the thermostat doesn't kick on, then have to pay to heat my house to an uncomfortably warm temperature? I could tolerate a thermostat that is off by a degree or two, but heating to more than 5 degrees above the set temperature is not acceptable. If I had kept this thermostat, I'm sure my heating bills would have skyrocketed.Plus, I had to pay my handyman to install this piece of junk and I had to pay him to uninstall it and reinstall my old thermostat. Now that my old thermostat is reinstalled, the heater runs way less frequently than with this thermostat AND the temperature in my house doesn't fluctuate between being too cold and too warm.I definitely won't be buying another Honeywell product in the future.
