I’m a beginner guitar player and this book has been so helpful in improving the dexterity in my left hand. I love that it has tab as well as regular musical notation.

Nothing is left out of this book! And everything is well explained.
Great book tells you everything you need to know about learning guitar from bottom to top. Loaded with excellent exercises to speedYou along in learning guitar. Truthfully it will take more than ten minutes a day I would say a good starting point would be a half hour and build on that if you wish.

Could be better
It's a good start, but the chord charts don't follow the lessons. They only show the new chords and expect you to remember the chords from 10 pages earlier. Mind you, this 10 pages spans about 3 days. Please show all the chord fingerings used in a lesson.

Outstanding Beginner Guitar instruction book
I recently picked up this book on the Amazon website. What I like about this book is that it's geared for the average Joe, non musician person. The exercises have audio tab that can be downloaded from the Guitar Head website. It's unusual for me to find a guitar instructional book that is not a major challenge to finish. What makes this book so great and worthwhile as a purchase is that you don't need a tremendous amount of time and effort studying in order to finish the 100 exercises listed in the book.I started playing music as a teenager on a 10 hole Hohner marine band harmonica. I would play simple tunes but I would put a lot of heart and sole into the simple songs I played. As long as you really enjoy the music you play and learn on your guitar......then that is the main objective you should seek as you play your instrument. There are some major scale forms mentioned in this book but I found it unusual they did not expand at all beyond these few basic major scale forms shown in this book. Guitar Head offers another different titled book for increasing your knowledge on different scales used for the guitar. If you don't have any musical talent like myself this is probably a great book to buy. If you have knowledge and talent playing the guitar you would probably be better off buying something else. You don't need to have the skills of Yngwie Malmsteen in order to be a proficient, competent guitarist. If more advanced, time consuming, studies of guitar instruction are not your cup of tea, that's fine, stick with what you like to play.

Actually encourages me to play!
I have been "playing" guitar, (if that's what you call it), since I was 10 y.o., one of these that played a few chords and strum, then didn't touch guitar for years, then play again for a month, not for a few years again. Why? because I sucked at it! Now in my mid-fifties I picked it up again, and actually started learning things and ENJOYED playing, looked forward to it, actually started sounding like I knew what I was doing, played every day! Difference? THIS BOOK. Oh, how I wish I would have had this years ago! I can not recommend it enough. The "10 minutes a day" practice quote is quite optimistic, but it got me to pick up the guitar and play and believe me, there is no way you are only going to play for 10 minutes. You'll WANT to keep playing and learning... because your actually getting it and understanding thing's. Great book for beginners and those who have played a bit but needed help....The book explains guitar tablature and how to use it, easily. YOU DO NOT NEED TO KNOW OR LEARN HOW TO READ MUSIC! Teaches you exercises to practice, has bonuses to download, also has audio files you can download and play so you know how it's suppose to sound. That way you'll know if your playing it correctly. And just so much more, too much to describe and go over. Do yourself a favor and get this book, you will not regret it! Thank you guitar head!!
