works as expected, highly recommended

I've been looking for exactly this type of motion sensor control for a long time. The last one I tried almost works (not sure the brand) and looks exactly the same be behaves differently - it would turn off the light after the delay time, even if motion was detected - the light would be off for a few seconds and then would trigger if I waved my hand. So no matter what I would be in the dark for a few seconds. This one (ECOELER) will do something we in electronics would call retriggering, if any motion was detected before the end of the delay time, it would re-start the delay time, no dark time - lights would stay on until no more motion detected and the end of the delay time was reached. I've tried this on 2 of the units I've bought and both behave the same and quite reliably - some have stated they got false triggers (when it turns on by itself with no motion detect), I did not see any false triggers so far (been using for about 3 weeks now), always turns on ONLY if motion detected and always turns off after about the correct delay time. I'm using this on LED lighting (didn't try any other types of lighting or load), no problems. I DID set the sensitivity and ambient levels both to 5 (maybe this caused false triggers for some people). I didn't need ambient so I set it to 5 (instructions say this is off)(ambient allows the light to stay off if there is already enough background light). I didn't need sensitivity so high but it seems to work anyway (I only need short sensitivity but don't mind long so I set it to max long, 5) - it seems to have about a 90 degree detection cone (+/-45 degree from center). Time delay I set to 1min at first and this worked ok but a bit too short, now set to 5 min and this is just right for me. Note that all three of these settings are analog rotary trim potentiometers (variable resistors) so they are approximate.I only used occupancy mode, did not try vacancy mode(my understanding is vacancy mode means manual turn on, auto time off with no retrigger, that is, it turns off after the delay time, motion is not detected or used). I can see how this may be a useful feature for some but not for my case, I wanted hands free operation and in one case, the switch is located far away, awkward to reach .I've only seen this type of retriggering motion detection on an outdoor security light and that one did not always trigger properly when I moved into range, and I think it was much more expensive (but it was a whole fixture, not just a wall module).Another type of motion detector I've had used a separate wireless battery (3AAA) sensor that sends a signal to the main controller. This worked reliably but needed to change the batteries every year and eventually I forgot, and when I remembered to change them, the batteries had leaked and corroded the guts. Also it was NOT a retrigger sensor and so it always left me in the dark for a few seconds before the next trigger (not really bad but still annoying). Now I've switched to this ECOELER and won't look back. This is the BEST, highly recommended!

Cheap and works great. May even be better than a more expensive smart option.

I actually just got this switch because my wife doesn't seem to remember to turn off the lights. This one is now in her master bedroom closet. The switch not only has a timer setting to turn off after different periods of time but it also has a good motion sensor so you don't need to use the switch at all. Worked right out of the box. Working great.

Functional

This sensor is good, but I just gave it 4 stars because it doesn’t have a long time when you turn on lights, so you have to stay continuously moving for the lights to stay on. Otherwise the installation is easy, look good and are functional! Definitely worth the money.

Lower energy bill

The lights no longer stay on forever because the kids refuse to turn the light off when they leave a room! They are easy to install and we haven’t had any issues.

Only useful for OCCupancy mode

This motion sensing light switch is only useful in its OCC mode - where the lights automatically turn on because of motion. For this reason I'm giving it 3 stars as that's probably the use case for most people. Works well in a laundry room, pantry, closet, etc.But if you want it to work where you can manually turn it on and also potentially manually turn it off, it's broken by design. It'll only work to auto turn off due to lack of motion. If you manually turn it off, IT'LL TURN RIGHT BACK ON DUE TO YOUR MOTION TURNING IT OFF! 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️ The only way to successfully turn it off is hiding and being motion free when turning it off making it impossible to use in a bedroom, shared bathroom, etc.Ended up returning it and getting a different one that was easier to install (no neutral required) and most importantly worked as expected.

Works as advertised.

Had a question on hooking up and was answered immediately.

VAC and OCC modes behave the exact same way

I bought a 10 pack and installed 3 of them before I started noticing problems.Installation was easy. When I turned the power back on, I let the switch do it's Initialization as instructed, then tested things out. When in VAC mode, when I'd turn the light off, it would turn back on immediately because it would sense my movement. It's only if it times out that it won't turn back on (After waiting the 30 second wait period where it waits to see if any motion is detected). I'd have to be outside the room and reach in to hit the switch, but make sure my arm was below the switch so that it would stay off. But even then, if I walked into the room later, it would automatically turn right back on.OCC mode behaved exactly as expected. Turning it off was more forgiving. It didn't turn back on immediately after turning it off. I could even move around a little bit and leave and it would stay off. Then if I walked back in it would turn back on as expected. So, all-in-all this is a piece of garbage if you plan on using it in a bedroom... unless you don't care having to stay very still in bed until it times out and turns off on its own. Because it will ALWAYS turn back on automatically if you turn it off manually, regardless if you have in VAC or OCC mode.

Turns on easily. Stays on long enough

Great product. Still works after a couple years.
