Excellent, outstanding and beyond brilliant
This stunning slider arrives in a substantial easy to recycle cardboard box. A box that's pretty heavy and gives you an happy inkling of what photographic pleasures are contained within. Something that's especially apparent when you open this and come face to face with the case.A well made case that has nice features such as high quality fabric, and ultra smooth zips with little tags to help open and close the bags. An attention to detail that says I'm something special before you even open it.When you do gaze upon this piece of kit it's like an epiphany, the videographic equivalent of finding gold bars in your socks. As well as the slider being one seriously slick, solid bit of specialised bit of tech, the accessories are also rather impressive. Including, a UK mains adapter, quick release plate, adapter kit for DJI RS gimbals, basic manual and a collection of cables. Kit that means this one is literally ready to use without having to scare your wallet by buying more stuff. On a desk or production cart it's fine, especially as it's got adjustable rubber feet and an inbuilt spirit level to keep things nice and straight. But the weight of this, even more so with combined with other kit, means many tripods won't be able to support the weight. So you might want to consider spending on some decently strong tripods to support this.Personally I'm using a K&F Concept 72 which is a professional quality video tripod and one that supports 8kg, which is just enough for this and a DSLR body with a small lens. Though whatever brand you use it's easy to do, because there's 3/8in and 1/4in connection points underneath the slider, along with additional mounting points at both ends. The latter being handy if you want to use extendable arms to help support it.Not that you need to keep this slider level, that's because this can operate at a wide variety of angle, indeed with the right rigging it will even work upside down. So if you want that slow and smooth sliding up a 45 degree angle shot, this one does the job with a twist of your tripod. Plus the multiple mounting points allow you to attach stuff like lights or monitors, which means you can transform this into a mini movie studio in meer minutes. The next issue to think about is how to power it and the makers have included loads of choices here. Indoors you can use the included USB outlet power adapter, outdoors you have the choice to use a Sony NPF970 battery or use a mobile power bank. Though if you use a bank you need to remember your bank needs to supply 60W of power. However the best aspect of this is just how different this is from DIY sliders or manual dollies, for starters it's near silent in use. This one doesn't do sharp stops or jagged motions, with it's inbuilt stabilisation and shake removal, it's smoother than an ice skating polar bear wearing sunglasses. Plus it's not limited to a single left/right axis, instead this amazing device has a panning axis and roll axis unit integrated within the moving carriage.A unit that, even without a DJI RS gimbal, is something that can be precisely controlled and is simple to set up. Just attach a quick release plate to your camera, one that's compatible with a ball head, and mount a ball head onto the slider's quick release plate. Adjust the camera/ball head angle and all is ready to go.Basic operations are also well easy to do, just start it up and as the slider returns to its start position a clear screen lights up. A screen which offers a variety of modes, including video, time-lapse, stop motion, macro, and panorama.Mostly though it's ability to programme multiple keyframes that's simply outstanding. From setting specific positions and pan angles for each keyframe, reverse shots, configurable start delays, defining durations by minutes, seconds or percentage to setting speeds etc, it's all possible with this. And that's just what's built into the machine, if you use the free app you get even more control options.Including face & gesture recog and the rather clever target tracking. And if that wasn't enough if you are lucky enough to own certain models of DJI gimbal it gets even more amazing. That's because this can automatically interface with such gimbals and control them totally seamlessly. But you don't need the latest kit to use this, it's comprehensive, adaptable and versatile enough to work with anything from a secondhand smart phone upwards. Indeed, because I don't have a suitable gimbal (mines just manual) I've been using it with a Muvi X-Lapse timer and an action camera. Something that allows me to easily create sweeping time-lapses.Best of all it's encouraging me to be creative with my older camera kit. Such as playing with the TriggerTrap app, the multi shot mode on a Ricoh C5 compact and for real retro using it with Hi-8 and Mini DV camcorders. Overall ? It's no exaggeration to say this really has put the love back in to my photography, so it's beyond recommended.

Does not work reliably with DJI gimbal.
So this is an impressive slider, well built, ez to operate in the field without an app. It is smooth and the footage looks great. It is designed to work with the DJI Gimbals and unfortunately this was a disaster for me. The footage slider could not supply the gimbal with enough power, so I constantly got messages on the gimbal about that. The slider stopped functioning normally when the gimbal was attached, the touch screen stopped functioning, it wouldn't start or stop the movement. When mounted on the slider, the gimbal has to be in push mode to point it where you want it, but even then the gimbal thinks its unbalanced when you move it and it powers off. The gmbal works great, the slider works great but THEY DO NOT WORK TOGETHER. And this is the main selling point of this slider, it means it can't be the 4 axis gimbal that I spent all this money trying to achieve. I am a pretty experienced filmmaker and I could not resolve these issues.I would go as far as to say that footage shouldn't be advertising these tow items as compatible.
