Apple Magic Trackpad - White Multi-Touch Surface ​​​​​​​

After getting a large desk monitor and starting to use my MacBook Pro in clamshell mode, I first bought the black magic, keyboard with Touch ID and matching black Magic Mouse. I wanted to get the trackpad too, but it seemed kind of like overkill in addition to the mouse. Then I got a whole bunch of Amazon credit from some surveys and stuff that I did and it was on sale so I decided to splurge for the sake of comparison.The Magic Mouse was great with the ability to scroll up and down and swipe left and right and right click and all that, but the Magic Trackpad is so much better for almost everything. I never used a mouse with my MacBook Pro in laptop mode, so using the trackpad was immediately more intuitive than the mouse.I think I’m going to sell the black Magic Mouse now I really don’t have any use for it. It’s just setting up on the desk. I think I’ll post it for sale. I thought about keeping it for when I’m traveling or something, but that really doesn’t make any sense. I really wanna travel late and since my MacBook already has a trackpad and I’m used to using the trackpad it just doesn’t make sense.I tried the trackpad on the left and the mouse on the right combination. I found that I didn’t use the trackpad enough and my left hand isn’t as fluid with the trackpad as my right hand was and it kind of hurt my brain to use it with my left hand. Maybe I should try more before I give it all up. It just seemed like I was picking up the Magic Mouse a lot from the desk and placing it back on the desk, even though I had a very large area that I was working in with a nice big mouse pad area. It isn’t as intuitive as the trackpad that’s all I can really say.It’s all good. It’s all for quality stuff. It’s Apple. You’re paying the premium but boy I really enjoy working with the Magic Trackpad and the touch ID keyboard with my MacBook Pro tucked away in the keyboard drawer of the desk with all the cables plugged into it my set up is so clean there’s virtually nothing on the desk, but the keyboard in the trackpad.

This is an amazing trackpad with glorious features flawless design great battery life in a few surprises when it comes to customizations, it might be your best friend…. or, it may not be for you.I honestly don’t use it that much, but when I use it, it’s glorious. I probably use it once a week when I have to design social media post or create some Facebook ads and just having a large pad to glide around and that is uniquely responsive to many gestures, and it’s fast. I know that’s just anecdotal, but it is my feedback.Pros: It is large, and useful, very responsive and reliable, and it works great with Apple computers and devices that are compatible. The battery life is insanely good. There are third party software that allows you to customize even more features than native options, and automate tasks.Cons: not cheap, and requires some getting used to it. Some people may acclimate better than others so using this. Not sure if it’s only for Mac…? Any feedback is welcomed, as I have never seen a windows version.Conclusion: I am glad I bought it, but I can honestly say since I am not a designer nor a editor or a professional creator, it hasn’t really made a crucial difference that a good mouse like the Logitech M3 couldn’t do. And i use several kinds of mouse. But [ edit: it gets better with time…] I am finding it more and more appealing as time goes by.

Reason to get a Magic Trackpad (USB-C) over the Magic Mouse (USB-C):• Larger surface area, greater range of movement/ motion without physically moving hand• Many gestures and better usage of gestures compared to magic mouse (such as two finger zoom, on the mouse you can only double tap to zoom and it is limited as it zooms for you rather than you choosing how much to zoom yourself)• Can charge the trackpad while still using it• Great to use for creative programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and the likes (being able to use your finger for tools such as brush, pencil, pen, ... is much easier to use, drawing with finger is somewhat equivalent to drawing with a pencil)Reasons to get a Magic Mouse (USB-C) over the Magic Trackpad (USB-C)• Greater precision when selecting specific points• Greater accuracy when clicking, holding, and dragging (for highlighting text, or signing a signature)• Cheaper price $99 (on sale for $80 black friday/ holidays) vs $149 (no sale was seen)• Cleaner desk layout when paired with a magic keyboard and having the macbook on a stand• Slightly better battery life (will have to update but just from my observation so far)Regardless of whichever device you choose to purchase, go to your system settings by clicking the apple logo at the top left of your screen, go to bluetooth, click info (i in a circle) on either the magic trackpad/ mouse, then click trackpad/ mouse settings. Here you will be able to customize the gestures and movement to your liking.TLDR: If you are a creative I recommend the trackpad for greater range of movement/ expression (especially if macbook is elevated on a stand), if you want a clean desk layout the magic mouse is a nice addition to the built-in macbook trackpad.However if you're not looking to stay in the apple ecosystem, there are better mouse options out there. I originally had the magic mouse only, but since elevating my macbook on a stand I got the magic trackpad. I was considering returning one or the other, but it is nice to have options, though I would say I have used the trackpad a lot more than the mouse for my use cases.
