Amazon Kindle (16 GB) – Lightest and most compact Kindle with glare-free display, faster page turns, adjustable front light and long battery life – With Ads – Black

I bought this as a replacement for a 7th generation Kindle Paperwhite with a failing battery that has otherwise proved faultless since I bought it in 2018. In making this choice I'd considered the 7" and colour display Kindles, but concluded that as the 7th gen was perfect for me and did everything I wanted it to do, I'd try to get one that appeared to be almost the same size and had the same functions. There are differences of course: the case dimensions are smaller in all aspects (height, width and depth - see picture) and the reader is lighter in the hand, but with the display being exactly the same size it's not noticeable. Most noticeable however, is that text appears sharper at all font sizes with pictures appearing more detailed, the display appears whiter and the pages refresh marginally quicker. The increase in storage space is welcome too. I like this Kindle a lot, it might not have "Paperwhite" in its name, but it's replaced - and improved upon - my well-used and loved 7th generation Paperwhite perfectly. I've also found a welcome bonus in that it doesn't wake me up when it falls against my face as I drift off when late night reading in bed!Note: I bought the green version, not the black as Amazon have stated.

Bought this for my daughter who was not a big reader because she has dyslexia. A coworker of mine recommended this. This has turned out to be one of the best purchases. There is a mode for people with reading disabilities and she finds it much easier to read and her eyes do not get tired. She loves it! And now she is eating books. This kindle is also small and she can put it in her bag. Easy to carry around. And a lovely mint colour. Wonderful value for money and functionality.

This is my third Kindle. My last one I dropped and the front cracked and I was unable to do anything with it, other than read. It is a great Kindle but a real shame they have changed the size again and the size of the charger which meant I had to purchase another cover for it and a charging cable. Doesn't seem right you have to purchase different size products for it. Think again Amazon

Wish I had purchased a kindle before today. Reading the kindle app on a phone or tablet would always strain my eyes which didn’t make reading enjoyable. Did lots of research, not always convinced with the reviews on Amazon and I didn’t want another abundant device. Finally purchased a cheaper model of the kindle range as still not 100% sure it would make my reading experience better. Wow am I pleased with my purchase, I am now enjoying reading again, no eye strain and able to read in subdued lighting, sunshine etc. I also love audiobooks, which the kindle can play but you need to have Bluetooth speakers to listen. I have paired my Apple AirPods, an echo dot, and JBL clip and all work well. The battery lasts along time only when you are not connected to WiFi, it does drain the battery quite quickly if you keep WiFi connected. So I only use the WiFi when I want to add new books. The books I have are downloaded onto the kindle so I am able to read offline. Perfect that I have a device that is solely for reading, one of my better purchases with no regrets, just wish I had bought one sooner.

The best purchase I've made this year! I bought the kindle basic in the matcha colour and it's so cute. I use it daily. No glare on the screen, looks like paper, easy on my eyes as someone who suffers from migraines. Easy to set up and use. The 3 months free kindle unlimited is a great incentive. Fits in almost all my bags including small shoulder bags.

This Kindle is brilliant. The Matcha Green colour is divine, I love it, it’s beautiful. The quality and ease of use is second to none. I’ve had many different kindles and tablets (currently have a Fire Tablet which I use for reading the odd time, but mainly for watching TV in bed), but this Kindle has a quality I’ve not seen in the others before. The screen is clear, the page turning is fast, and storage is perfect: I have just shy of 3000 books on it and I’ve only used a little under 4GB of space. It is lightweight, so so light, honestly it’s like holding air and as always, perfect for sitting reading outdoors without the worry of the glare. Overall, amazing quality for such a great price. I was toggling between this and the Colorsoft, but to be honest I couldn’t justify the big jump in price just to see my book covers in colour (when I have that already on my Fire Tablet). If you just want a Kindle for reading - this is for you!

My old Kindle must have come out of the Ark. it still worked but it no longer had the ability to download books from the Store as that had become obsolete. I’d been thinking about getting an upgraded model for months but kept putting it off as my original Kindle was still working.I bought the Matcha Green. Yes the Kndle is lightweight (in fact so lightweight you’d hardly know you’re holding it), it’s clear and operated by touch. I thought (mistakenly) that Amazon would have introduced colour to the updated Kindles as the world of technology is now in colour but alas it appears not. Considering the price of the basic Kindle, I do think that it’s a bit overpriced for a black and white piece of kit. Am I returning it - no. I do like it, I’m just a bit disappointed it isn’t in colour, so for that reason I’m only giving it 4⭐️

My old faithful 14 year old kindle had become outdated although I can still read books I had already downloaded but not any new ones . I was delighted that kindle had introduced new colours & the green shade is beautiful & not harsh to look at. Kindle has come a long way since my first purchase & are still the best e reader on the market. Love that it’s lighter in weight & more compact than my old one . Very pleased with my purchase & the different facilities this provides. It was also easy to set up & sync my existing library.
