Makes a Great First Impression
I've owned UPSs from APC and CyberPower. After having my lead-acid backup fail during a flicker in the power line, I decided to give this lithium backup a chance. It's well built, easy to use, and attractive. The display is bright and easy to read. When I unplug it, it switches to battery fast enough that my PS5 doesn't notice. The fan turns on when charging or running off battery, but turns off when fully charged. The fan is almost imperceptible, but would be noticeable if it sat on a desk. Like my CyberPower, it outputs a pure sine wave, which is beneficial for protecting computers. Unlike the CyberPower, the GoldenMake is virtually silent.Setting up the unit was easy. Unlike my other UPSs, every outlet in the back is the same. All are protected by battery backup. There are no Ethernet or USB ports, master outlets or management software. This is a simple plug-and-play device for the home or small office. Its low maintenance design is one of its selling points.I do have a few nits. The power cord is only 4' long. I wish it came with a longer cord and a flat plug. To Goldenmate's credit, it's a standard C13 cord used on any PC, and I can easily replace it with any cord I want. Goldenmate assumes no responsibility for damage caused by a third party power cord.Like any UPS, this unit beeps when it's on battery power. The beep is much softer than any other UPS I have used, and I can silence it with a single button press. I wish I could set it to only beep when the battery is low.It has eight outlets in back, a lot for such a compact unit, but they are so closely spaced that I can't use them all. It's supposed to offer surge protection, but I can find no information on what kind or how many joules. The unit has a 5 year warranty, excluding the battery. Goldenmate claims the battery will last 10 years, although they do not say how much it will degrade in that time (50% like a TV panel?). The battery is not replaceable. Right now, I have more than enough battery power to run my modem, router, and other devices in standby mode (20w total) for hours.I am happy with my purchase and I would recommend it.

Awesome lithium iron phosphate battery (LiFePO4) battery UPS! The future is here.
I have to hand it to China. This UPS uses SUPERIOR battery technology, just like the cells used in BEVs to get THOUSANDS of charges, POSSIBLY LAST UP TO ten YEARS, and is made of a powder coated aluminum shell. It is line-interactive double conversion, AND outputs a PURE SINE WAVE! I have seen it tested by another customer, and I was SOLD! 1000VA/800Watts is plenty of overhead for my rig, even with my self-built gaming PC, 32 inch LG 165 Hz monitor, Altec Lansing speakers/sub, Samsung 25 Watt super-fast charger and an LED floor lamp that uses about 10 Watts. I personally do not need a USB NAS/PC connection, but if you need more power and a NAS connection, they have those too. Many models all the way up to 1600 Watts! The usual brands offer only MINUTES of run time, and use Lead-Acid batteries, caveman tech. IMHO. Goldenmate will give up to HOURS of run time. It is more akin to a Power-Station, but reacts near instantly, and outputs a PURE SINE WAVE! Goodbye plastic box/Lead Acid legacy brands! Hello the FUTURE, it has arrived. I'm astounded nobody else is doing this, as the usual brands only have Lithium Ion batteries, and are in the thousands of dollars. lithium iron phosphate battery (LiFePO4)battery is what you want, even BEVs have switched over to them. Mine is quiet, and is barely warm in normal usage.

Good entry level LifePo UPS
When I saw a LifePo UPS I knew. I had to have it especially with the weather we've been having around here lately. We have been through multiple power failures recently and this unit helped keep my phone, tablet, lamp and a fan running all day.Why does this lose a star? A couple of relatively minor reasons.1) This is a "dumb" power supply. There are no USB or ethernet ports, no way to connect it to a PC. So no firmware updates, of monitoring interface, or ability to shut down a computer on power fail.2) The display. It has a basic display that shows battery level, input and output voltage and wattage. That's all, no time remaining or recharge time.Which is fine if your only purpose is to shut down your system or your draw is so low you can usually out last an outage. There are 2 other things that I consider neither a plus or minus:1) The failure alarm.. Some have said it's loud, I don't believe it's as loud as it should be. Some will like, others will not.2) All of the plugs are on the battery. There are no pass through or "surge only" outlets.A lot of people will plug in non-essentials (like Printers, speakers, or RGB) for the convenience in the surge only plugs, but on this device they will all be sucking power in the event of a failure. Remember a lot of modern devices still draw power even in standby, so plugging non-essentials into the battery can take away life from your necessary components.None of these shortcomings should dissuade you from buying this if you need a simple backup power source for low wattage devices like chargers, fans, radios, or even laptops. And this is a LifePo battery, so no needing to swap out $50 lead acid batteries every year.
