Q: Will a Saeco Aroma 53 mm portafilter fit in the holder?

After having owned this grinder for over a year and a half, I wouldn't recommend grinding directly to a portafilter anyway. This grinder does a good job with espresso grinding but it is very messy. I strongly recommend grinding to the included container first and then pouring into your portafilter. Just my $.02

Q: I wanted to get one for espresso but everytime I've tried it makes a huge mess. How do you stop espresso grind from spraying out of portafilter?

The portafilter "top stop" can be adjusted with the supplied hex wrench. Move it towards the center and loosen is with the smaller hex wrench, once it's loose, move it as high up as you can. This will stop most if not all of the mess as you don't need to rely up the parallel arms to hold your filter up, but you can't jam the portafilter against the top and cause a problem either.

Q: What is the height with the hopper removed vs. in place? Are extra hoppers available to purchase? Thank you.

The company is very good about responding to those kind of problems. Do a Google search for the companies direct phone number and email and they get back to you within one day. There’s several things to look at if the screen is not coming on at all when you plug it in there is a fuse inside and one of the circuit boards that could be burned out.
