I love this hand-cranked shaved ice machine! I used this to produce shaved ice for the Filipino dessert, halo-halo. This dessert is prepared by layering sweet beans, ube, jackfruit, plantain, flan, etc., followed by shaved ice, a few teaspoons of evaporated milk and scoops of ube ice cream. To use this shaved ice machine to produce fine, fluffy shaved ice, you want to use a big block of ice (such as the one from the included ice mold). If you use ice cubes, you will get chunky shaved ice. For my halo-halo, chunky shaved ice works well.This shaved ice machine is super-easy to use. Open the lid, put the ice into the canister, secure the lid and start turning the handle. The shaved ice falls into a small clear container.One small but nice feature is the rubber ring located under the shaver. This rubber keeps the shaver from slipping as you turn the handle.Fighting the heat this summer will taste good with the ZHANG XIAO QUAN Hand-cranked Shaved Ice Machine. Compared to the Basswood manual ice shaver we bought this one is much lower output, harder to crank, only makes very fine shavings not best for snow cones, and is much harder to open and close.

I literally use this thing daily 😂 only critique is I wish it came with 2 freeze cups instead of 1 😂 but 1 will give you PLENTY

Shaved ice has become a favorable treat in my daughter's life, but after calculating the cost over time, it was time to find a more budget friendly option. I knew I wanted a compact shaved ice machine with the results resembling shaved ice and not the crystalized slushies.Overall, my daughter is extremely happy and loves being part of the creation, she likes to experiment with different flavors and has preferred making them at home compared to going out to buy one. The machine is simple to use and easy to clean.But, being the main user, here are a couple things I am not a fan of. When I first start to crank the ice shaver, it tends to get stuck or hung up - usually I reverse and start again with a bit more force. The machine shaves the ice down well, but I tend to have a few chunks after I am done. I think adding another blade would help with the consistency and smoothness of turning. The top portion of the machine has unscrewed on me multiple times, you need to ensure you have a good grasp on the machine. I find the shaver is easier to work with when it is filled to the line with ice, even if the intentions is to only have a small snow cone.This is my first shaved ice machine so I have nothing to compare it to, but after watching video reviews on other shavers, some of my issues appear to be pretty common in the manual shavers. Price point currently aligns with others and the machine does work, but my main problem is the lid wanting to unscrew and the "non-slip feet" do not work properly.

Kids love it. Easy to use, but you need a lot of elbow grease.
