Direct attached storage solution that worked perfectly at a great cost.
I had four 1TB 2.5” drives sitting around from an old NAS box that had failed that I needed to do something with. With the up coming Microsoft changes in October I also needed a system upgrade, so I found the perfect time to accomplish it all. I reviewed lots of different solutions and customer reviews before settling on the Teramaster D4-320 DAS unit, the cost was extremely reasonable, the shipping was fast, the installation was very simple and the performance with the USB-C interface was very good. Before installing on my new Windows PC I did some serious compatibility testing using a MAC which also worked wonderfully. The unit sits on my desktop, makes very little noise and looks good next to the Dell PC. When the time comes that I will require more storage, this unit will definitely e at the top of my list.

Works exactly as advertised
Works great. Almost totally silent. Easy to install/remove drives. Not sure what else to say about something that works exactly as advertised! (smile)

Build quality ok. Speed is excellent.
Overall, build quality is lacking compared to some other units. I like the ability to use standard hard drives as well as ssd's. While it is tool free for 3.5 inch hard drives, it does require a couple steps. A screwdriver is required for 2.5 inch drives. Another issue if you will be moving this around is that the drives don't appear to lock in place.I'm rarely going to swap drives or move the enclosure, so what matters most to me is that the drives stay cool and data transfer is fast. Here it excels. I'm getting 500Mb/s read speed, consistent, which might be limited by my usb port. Write speeds are similar. With write caching turned on, the drives don't chatter much at all.Power management is also very good. I like the fact that it spins up all the drives at once. I have not seen any enclosure that has the drives ready for use faster. Also, when the computer shuts down, it completely shuts off. I'll be buying a second one.

easy to set up, thin plastic case
Does the job. Housing the four drives that hold my Adobe ans DaVinci project content. All 4 are WD 7200s. Noisy. Case is thin plastic. Buy a better transfer cable than the one provided.

Very quiet, easy setup.
Received this today. Took about 25 minutes to install 4 drives and power it up. Extremely quiet! It sits at the foot of my chair right now (until I rearrange some things when I get a longer USB C - USB C cable), and I literally cannot even hear it.I needed to do something with my individual backup drives that the USB connectors had worn enough that they were so loose that they'd often disconnect the drive at the slightest bump - which can be deadly to data if the drive is writing at the time. The USB C connectors are much more secure than the stupid "double D" connectors that many external drives use. I removed the drives themselves from their external cases (had to break one, because I could find no way to open it) and installed them in the trays on this enclosure. Didn't even need the included hardware, as the 3.5" drives have nifty side pieces that snap into the screw holes on the drive. (the screws included are for mounting 2.5" drives, not needed for 3.5" drives)So now, just one data cable, with a more secure physical connection, faster data flow (USB C 3.2 [supposedly up to 10 gB/s] vs. USB 2.0 [480 mB/s), and just one one power cord. Plus, drives are hot-swappable, so I can rotate backups to my safe and my offsite storage without powering the whole thing down.So far, so good.

Works Great!
I recently purchased this to serve as storage for my Plex Media Server. Response time is great! Supports large drives (I have a 24TB drive and two 6TB drives that are a different model than the 24TB in it right now), great value for the price, would absolutely recommend to someone looking for direct storage.

Works great.
Built a NAS using this and an old Mac Mini running TrueNas and it's been great. I was able to hot swap a disk with no issue. Only downside is it is very "plasticy" - not a lot of metal in this, so it feels a bit on the cheaper side. Particularly noticeable on the levers when pulling a disk and on the plastic snap on mounts. Other than that no complaints. Fantastic for a home office or home lab setup.

Quite
I really like it. It’s quieter than expected and it powers on when my Pc powers on. I have three hard drives in it. One 8tb, 16tb and a 24tb. All seem to have no issues and stay cool.
