When I was looking for a replacement filter, I was a little hesitant to go with this brand because of some of the negative comments associated with this particular filter...then I remembered that a lot of people that leave negative reviews about products probably didn’t know how to install or set them up properly...even though it’s usually really easy to do. It was so cheap that it was worth a try over the refrigerator manufacturer rip off option.I have absolutely no issues with this product at all. It’s been installed for months and there is no leaking, nothing is broken and the ice cubes taste just fine. Again, not sure what all the bad reviews are about.

When I bought these filters they came in a multi pack. I just received a water testing tool that I purchased on Amazon. I tested the water from my bathroom sink at 149ppm. I then installed this brand new filter and flushed about 4 gallons of water through before taking a reading from my new digital water tester. Guess what....it’s 153ppm coming out of my fridge with a new filter. I saw another reviewer mention that the water pressure was stronger with this filter than the name brand. I believe it’s because it’s not filtering anything at all. I also tested a bottle of purified water and it read 15ppm. The tool works...these filters don’t. You get what you pay for. Buy the name brand and not these.

Had a bad taste for a couple of days after installing it, but it went away. It's a basic filter and I have to assume it's doing its job. Very happy to see that Amazon has started offering its own version of this filter with different levels of filtering available AND at a reasonable price. The GE filters are just too expensive. It may not be a coincidence that the cost of the GE filters have gone up significantly since GE sold their appliance division to Haier in 2016.

I gave this product a one star review simply because it did not work in our refrigerator. I ordered a replacement filter thinking it was just a fluke that the first one did not work and the replacement did not work either. The keys on the inside that sync with the fridge to allow water to pass through did not line up and the water would stop after about 4-5 ounces of water came out. I ended up spending the $50 and getting the GE replacement filter and everything works just fine. I am always up for trying cheaper alternatives, however, in this case it didn’t work.

We have a GE refrigerator and used this to replace an MWF filter.After installing, I could not get the filter to stop "chattering" when trying to get the water to flow. After trying everything we could think of, my husband and I could get a whole liter or two of water before the chattering started back. Gradually, we would get less and less water each time until it no longer pours water at all. This took about a month to get to this point.I really wanted this filter to work. The price is great and I liked how the water tastes. I tried all the recommendations, tips and tricks to no avail. It just doesn't work for everyone.Good luck.

I don't know why I waited so long to replace the filter in my fridge. It is so easy to do! I had the replace filter light on for many months and was too lazy to replace it because I thought it was a more intensive process. Once I finally caved, I found this product that is compatible with my refrigerator and was able to install it in about 30 seconds! Super easy to do on your own. Don't wait like I did.

The package comes with complete installation information, so you won't have to locate your refrigerator manual in most cases. The five-minute installation included (for me) removing and replacing the refrigerated items near the filter. No muss, no fuss - just a good, basic product. Thank you!//jm

This water filter is my first off-brand purchase and it is just as good if not better than the GE brand. It was easy to install, fit perfectly and I noticed my water stream was a little stronger with this filter (not sure if it had anything to do with that). It is nearly a fraction of the price of the GE brand!
