My 9 year old and I did this together. I soldered the chip and some of the more delicate parts but all went well. He wanted a radio so this worked out incredibly well. Is it a super high quality radio? No but it is as good as anything you’d buy at the price point ready made. There are extra nuts and bolts and the online introductions are pretty easy to follow. I would absolutely recommend as a first project with an experienced helper. Or a medium difficulty for a novice. Only because of the fiddly nature of some of the components. Also, I had to look up which way the a capacitor needed to go.

I was able to get this project completed fairly easily without any issues, but I have been soldering with SMD for years. I wouldn't recommend this to someone who is totally new to soldering as there isn't an easy way to know where you messed up, if you did mess up.I had some issues with the buttons they sent me, they were all different sizes which was strange and were not long enough to be pushed once the shell was placed on. I got around this by extending it with some hot glue, not perfect but manageable.

Everything came in the package and I instructions were very clear. Has an SMD component so be ready for that if you're awful at them (like me).The incorrect step is extremely minor but the speaker on the picture being screwed into the acrylic is wrong so make sure to look at how it goes into the box before screwing it on as the picture shows due to the picture being wrong.A very minor issue that in no way negatively impacts the build just something to look for if you buy the product to do yourself to avoid having to redo work.I put all the parts together and it turned on. There's not much I can say other than I'm happy with it and happy this had easy to follow instructions.

I bought 2 to make for some family members. I put one together and paid very close attention to the instructions. The first one I made got power when plugged into the usb, but no sound or LCD screen light up. I was thinking “maybe I just messed it up”. I proceeded to put the other one together, and the same exact thing happened after I spent more time making sure everything was right, had power when plugged in but no LCD or sound. Nothing. Don’t buy this crap.

This was a fun and challenging project. I managed to finish it in about three hours after downloading the manual from the merchant’s website. I think this should be an intermediate level kit as the very first component it tells you to solder is an SMD (surface mount device), namely a 16 pin chip! Still, it did describe the technique and surprisingly I got it to work the first time I powered it up. Some illustrations would have been useful as I was not familiar with some parts, and polarity of certain parts required some guesswork.

Great starter kit for someone learning soldering and electronic assembly.

Cool and fun little project to practice soldering. Worth the price.

Never connected properly when soldering and did not turn on. In the process the battery blew up and luckily I did not end up in the hospital, only minor cuts, bruises, and burns all over my hand
