Quiet and subtle
Very quiet fan, subtle design, and more effective than my previous and much louder Vornado EV200 based on refill frequency. On medium speed, this humidifier elevates my ~200sf bedroom a few percentage points above the rest of the house which, during heated Colorado winters, is about 30%. Still not providing ideal humidity, but I keep the door open which confounds any humidifier. On high with the door closed, I can get the room to >45% while the house is at 25%.The app is a neat feature I didn't expect to care about.Sound and efficacy were my two biggest concerns, followed very closely by appearance. White plastic appliances are hideous. This addresses all three very well.

Surprisingly Disappointed
I thought I had done well rounded research into buying a good humidifier before I made this purchase but about 15 minutes after opening the box I discovered how wrong I was. By the way, this was NOT a free humidifier or a paid review, but a purchase.First, I noticed how flimsy feeling the motorized portion of this device was. Additionally, there is a long tube like thin plastic portion that extends into the water with what appears to be a water sensor on it which determines if the unit has water or not. The water sensor looks very fragile and, frankly, cheaply made. It bothers me that in some of the paid reviews they talk about the high-quality of these plastic parts but then ,at some point, mention the build quality was not what they expected for the price. I don’t know how you can have it both ways (it’s either high quality or not) but I certainly didn’t see or feel "high quality" plastic. The mechanical plastic looks thin and potentially easily breakable.Oddly, when the water is put into the base, it covers perhaps 1/4 or more of the humidity diffusing pads. This prevents air from flowing through that portion of the pads which blocks their ability to put moisture into the air. Instead of using a pump to move the water over the pads thus using 100% of the pads ability to put moisture into the air they just 'dunk' the pads into the water and let them passively absorb water from the bottom of the pad as it sits under the water. The other 3/4’s (or less) of the pad are open to air circulation and seem to function normally.Speaking of quality, after about 15 to 20 minutes of the unit running the water sensor began to say the water tank was empty (it was actually full) and the unit would shut down. I did not take any points away or stars away for this because any sensor can fail and if the company is willing to replace it that’s good enough. However, it is a major hassle since the unit shuts itself down and will not operate when it 'thinks' it has no water. Additionally, why in the world would they even bother to put such a sensor that shuts the system down in the first place? What I mean is it would be much better to have no sensor (or a sensor that reports low water via the app) and simply let the humidifier continue to run and dry out the wet pads --- many units do just this to help preserve the life of the humidity pads and keeping them from smelling bad.System notifications / control can come or be done via the app. The app was extremely easy to set up but ease of use stopped there. When using the app to control the unit about 6 out of 10 times I would touch a function tab to change some parameter or turn on or off some function the app would within 2 to 4 seconds revert back to the previous state like I had never touched a button. So to change anything using the app often took 4 to 6 tries before the app actually accepted the change.I think a big selling point of this unit is aesthetics. For instance the suede/flannel looking surround 'finish' which is basically a circular ring of thin stretchy cloth which looks good to me. However, It’s not as 'built in' as you might expect, but more like a “seat cover” which can bunch up unless you smooth it down which is easy enough to do.I had to laugh after a few hours with this product because I couldn't deny that it looked really good but once I tried to use it, I quickly realized that looks are NOT everything.

Great Humidifier but Faulty Design
Have been using this humidifier for months now and it works great overall. TIP: When the filters seem to stop working as well, flip them around and they will work like they first did. Will help extend the life of the filters and you won't have to buy them as often.Faulty Design: As some others have noted in their reviews, the product will eventually start to show a white box/marking/staining on the fabric. The inside fans seem to bleach out the areas on both sides due to air flowing in/out of the device.

Discolored fabric after 3 weeks
I’ve only owned this product for three weeks And the fabric sleeve has already discolored drastically in the area where the filtered wicks are located on both the front and back of the unit. I have only used filter water in the tank and it’s odd that it looks bleached out just over the wicks. One of the major selling points of this unit for me was the aesthetics, but this is the opposite effect of what I invested a good chunk of money purchasing. Majorly dissatisfied and have reached out to the company to have this remedied and awaiting a reply.

High-rise life saver in NYC -High output! No white dust! Almost 2 gallons a day!
Let me start by saying, Karl from StadlerForm is the most efficient humidifier I have used.I am currently living in Manhattan for the year. And the big surprise for me here is how these high-rises are heated. October 1, the heat automatically goes on by law. And I’m told it will go off April 1. I’m living on the 43rd floor of my building and the temperature is always hot and dry.I need a high-performance humidifier in order to keep my bedroom managed and tolerable. The only way I can cool off my apartment is to open my windows and by doing so I’m letting in the cold bone dry air from the outside into my living space.Karl is a turbo charged work horse humidifier. I believe the manufacturer is understating it’s actual performance I fill the water reservoir to its capacity around 7 PM and by the time I leave my flat at about 6:30 in the morning I need to fill it again that’s approximately 1 gallon, less than 12 hours! By the time I arrive home in the evening, it’s nearly empty. When you review the claims of the top selling humidifiers, you’ll see runtimes of 60 hours for a one and a half quart output capacity humidifier. The top 10 humidifiers make such claims and that’s like saying my car goes extremely slow, like 3 miles in 5 hours! Yes really slow.If you want the best you don’t buy the slowest car on the market! That tells me they have no idea what they’re talking about.Stadler Form has a turbo charged high-performance humidifier with an extremely quiet, what I would consider industrial grade, air handling fan. Like I said, I’m going through close to 2 gallons a day,.And despite the crazy high rise heating rules in NYC, I can sleep soundly at night and wake up refreshed not dry!I’m also astonished at the list of top selling humidifiers. Nearly all of them are cheap ultrasonic humidifiers without any filters. I made the mistake but only once.White dust! Never again!Karl is an evaporative humidifier. Not an ultrasonic humidifier. The evaporation takes place on the surface of the filter inside the humidifier. Any minerals in the water remain on the evaporative filter. Not on your furniture! Not on your head while you’re sleeping! Not on your baby face sleeping in their nursery! Not on your dog!Only pure water vapor is emitted from StadlerForm’s Karl! You get what you pay for and this one gets two 👍 👍 (unfortunately I only have two hands)
