Excellent battery tester for a wide variety of voltages and chemistries
This La Crosse battery tester is an excellent product. It works with a wide variety of voltages and chemistries. I have tried it on alkaline 1.5V (AA, AAA), USB lithium 1.5V (AA), NiMH (AA, AAA), and lithium coin cell 3V (CR2032, etc.) batteries and it appears to give timely and accurate measurements. I love that it is compact so it is easy to store and use on the go.There are a lot of battery testers on Amazon, most of which are Chinese knock offs/generics of a few designs. I appreciate that La Crosse has a unique design with a clear digital readout. You need to know what voltages mean for your particular battery chemistry (1.2V - 1.31V is considered "full" for NiMH batteries, for example), but I much prefer seeing the true voltage readout than generic terms like "good" or "empty". If you are wondering which of the forty different "caliper" or "zigzag" types of battery testers to get on Amazon, don't bother, just get this La Crosse 911-65557-INT one and be happy. The La Crosse 911-65557-INT battery tester is self-powered: powered by the battery that you are testing. There are two points to note about this design. First, if the battery you are testing is truly "dead" (below some critical threshold), nothing will display onscreen because there is no power in the first place. Second, since it is self-powered, the unit itself does not require its own battery so it will always "work" and will not get a corroded battery case because there is no battery case in the first place. If you really need to measure voltage down to the last 0.1V, this product is the wrong product for you. However, if you want to get accurate readings of batteries in various stages, this product is the best one in the price range.

Great tester for all kinds of AA and AAA batteries
This battery tester is wonderful. I've had one with an analog gauge for many years, and I was never sure what the charge level actually was. With this one, it reads the voltage directly, and it has 3 set points (3 switch positions), one for Alkaline, NiCd and Lithium. So the charge idiot light works right with each type of battery as well. Reads to 2 decimal places, and seems to be both accurate and consistent. Easy to put the battery in place to test. Works with AA and AAA batteries, and I think 9V but I have only used AA and AAA so far. Simply a wonderful tester. Price was right, too.

extremely satisfied, great features, easy to use
I had looked at a number of battery testers at different prices and configurations. I love this one and have purchased another as a gift. I really wanted a tester to know if batteries left over were good or not to keep.Pros:Doesn't need a battery to power it.Compact.Easy to use. Many size batteries including button cells supported and 9V with slide out tray.Easy to read digital display with 3 important things: A) digital empty/full guage that is analog style, B) voltage reading C) qualitative suggestion.Simple selector for different voltages 1.2v, 1.5v, 3v (like a lithium cell).Fast clear readout.GREAT FIND!!!

Easy to read, Reasonably Accurate and Light Weight
Great small battery tester and just what I needed. It seems to be pretty accurate, easy to read, and I like the small form factor. perfect size and weight for my flight bag. So far, it's holding up and I would definitely buy it again if I had to.

Not cheap. BUT: not junk! Versatile, no internal battery (yay!), sturdy enough, bog-simple interface
Decent product. I'd have been proud to be on the development team! Model 911-143 from La Crosse Technology. Spendy? Well... let's look.Chunky rectangular design feels good in the hand, stays put where you set it down.If you're testing D cells all day you might eventually run into a sturdiness problem. The slider has a bit of a groove in it, so AAA and LR44 and the like will tend to self-center--a very nice touch. No fiddly internal 357 button battery or such: device gets power from the battery under test--since the display is just a current-frugal LCD, this is pretty much ideal. There's a slider switch (with mild but reassuring detents) to select between1) NiMH (1.2 V nominal, rechargeable),2) regular/alkaline/LiFe (Energizer Lithium) (1.5 V nom.),3) lithium coin cell (such as 2032) (3.0 V nom.).Buy three cheap testers as they get flaky on you, or spend the cost of two of those and buy this one. I think you'll be glad you did. Seems like a great slightly-extravagant "stocking stuffer"/gift.NOTE: This tester does not load the batteries down with a current draw when testing. So it's possible for it to report a somewhat "optimistic" capacity remaining.

Simple but effective for the advertised voltage range
A simple but effective low voltage battery tester. It has been a game changer as I have found that many of the button batteries sold on Amazon by various sellers often have a voltage output lower than what is advertised on the packaging which often will not power the devices they were purchased for. Saves me time by returning the batteries before I go through the process of installing only to find out they don't work, so this is a real time saver.

compact and works well
Very handy battery tester. Mine stopped working after 6 months. Called their customer service and they replaced the tester under warranty without issue. Good customer service.

Compact, efficient tool
I should have bought this years ago to test the batteries in my desk drawer. Time flies on some of those batteries as they sit there and when you need them most, they’re discharged. This small tool does a great job showing you a simple bar scale of how full the battery is. Simple, easy to use and a reasonable price.
