Great unit - now on my fourth!!!
I use my Aeropress at least twice a day since I first purchased a unit in around 2010. Over the years the plastic has changed, small design tweaks have produced a robust, simple, easy to clean unit. The last unit lasted around 4 years, parts wear, seals get loose - while the old unit still works, it did get increasingly difficult to take apart & it now sits in my office! The new unit did not come with all the old accessories, the main missing piece was the stand, the old units came with a box of 350 paper disks, the new with a less generous pack of possibly 50?Over the years the price has gone up, this was a cheapest option I could find.Bottom line these are great, they do just what they say, they are quick, simple, robust, fool proof, very easy to use & clean & they make a great coffee!!!

Best purchase of the year
I think the best way to review this is with a little story, to see if anyone can relate and fix their Coffee woes! After working in Australia and seeing my old line manager using one of these wonderful devices, referring to it as "Ye Olde Plunger", I dismissed it as something unnecessary and pointless. Upon my return to the Queens kingdom I was demoted to instant coffee after a wonderful year of posh coffee makers in every office I went to. Needless to say this required fixing so I got myself a cafetiere and some lovely fresh coffee and I thought that would be the end of my instant coffee days. After maybe 3 or 4 cups of, granted, nice coffee, I found myself not wanting to finish the last few sips so to avoid the harsh, bitter coffee sediment at the bottom of each mug which the Cafetiere just can't filter away. The sensible solution seemed to be: Get a filter cone and some filter paper and I'll be sorted... No! this would involve getting a coffee pot to put the filter on to and it just developed on to this big expensive mess with lots of washing up. However, my silver lining, I found this little Gem; A one cup filter which doesn't take 12 years for the water to drain through. This comes with a scoop so you can easily measure out the perfect amount of Coffee and the unit itself is numbered so you can pour the perfect amount of water and then it gets better! Rather than waiting for the water to drain with nothing but the theory of gravity behind it you can pull out the big guns and 'plunge' the water through so you've got a perfect Espresso in seconds, then if you're like me, you can top it up with hot water for lovely Americano and then add your other components: milk, sugar, syrup etc etc. (or just add hot frothy milk for a Latte)Finally comes the most important part, if you're a bloke (or lady) in an office with more work than time... WASHING UP! Once plunged, the main body of your Coffee Maker is clean... Much like a window wiper to a wet window. Just remove the filter guard/holder and fully depress the plunger over the bin and the filter and coffee is all disposed of with ease. As the coffee is wet, it all sticks together so it falls into the bin in a tidy little disk so you avoid all the mess you'd get transporting a cone filter paper to the bin, and with minimal to no dripping as you've pressed most of the water out. Simply rinse the remaining Coffee stuck to the rubber part of the plunger and you're done. I would recommend a thorough clean now and then to keep it fresh, but for the most part, just a rinse will do.After buying this product in August I've used it almost every day, it's still in great condition, still love it to bits and honestly don't know why I subjected myself to instant or half-arsed Cafetiere coffee. The coffee it makes is crystal clear, no sediment or 'bits' floating about like from a Cafetiere and easy to measure for the perfect strength. So, in short, if you haven't guessed by now, I highly recommend this to anyone who loves good Coffee or indeed, someone who just wants to give 'real' coffee a try. Thanks for reading!

Fresh coffee
I use this now more than my l'or coffee machine. Works well and easy to use. Easy paper instructions and a useful video as well on the website. It is a bit pricey though for what your getting.

Makes nice coffee
Really easy to use, and nice that it comes with some filter papers. Will consider purchasing a washable filter in the future.Very easy to clean, and firing the coffee pucks into the food waste is quite satisfying. In hindsight probably wish I bought the XL version instead, as I am rarely making coffee for one.

Brilliant! Easier than a cafetière
Had previously been using a cafetière to make coffee in, which is fairy limited in what it can produce. Bought the aeropress to make something closer to an espresso for something a little closer to a cappuccino (after being bought a milk heater/ frother as a present) - it gets close, with very little effort. Is it as good as a professional coffee machine AND a professional barista? No, of course not. Does it provide a reliable cup of coffee which is fast and tastes good without bitterness? Yes. Nice smooth coffee which is consistently good. Have tried using a finer and coarser grind and so far preferred the finer, but will keep experimenting. We were surprised by how easy it is to use - fast, throw it together, makes a single cup so no more cold leftovers to drink when using the cafetière, or in my case entire cold pots as I forgot I'd even made by the time it had brewed, to be discovered when tepid at best. But the best part? Easy to clean! No more having to scrub out a cafetière! (this somehow creates more mess than anything else in the kitchen, coffee grinds left everywhere). When using the paper filters, you just pop the whole lot straight into the compost bin, easy as.We also got a metal filter to use (came up as suggested purchased together item), and have to say wish I hadn't bothered, doesn't fit the press tightly meaning water just goes straight through without brewing - possibly we just got a duff or there are better brands. Disappointing given environmental concerns. However, no issues with the paper ones which fit very snugly and, as they can be composted along with the grinds, tbh isn't too much of an issue as paper seem easier.
