4 stars because it doesn't seem as effective as the stone hook sharpeners, but is a great value and does work. The grooves are fairly shallow which can be good or bad depending how you look at it. It requires attention to how you hold the hook. Works great for touch up.It is absolutely effective though, and since it comes with two, you can. Stash them in multiple places for convenience. I would definitely and likely will purchase again. I would recommend getting one of the stone style as well, maybe to keep In the tackle bag.

It was great out darts we’re getting so dull and the curved stone wasn’t doing it. So I have a knife sharpener that has a fish hook very fine grit. So thought about these an oh my good my darts are basically brand new. I can’t help with the fishing aspect but darts a must have tool.

Works for sharpening hooks, it is a little hard to use, thicker than necessary. I don't know how the slot in the center helps. It is not as easy to use as the Luhr Jensen sharpening file, but OK, seems to be about the best hook sharpening file I could find these days.

Nice pocket size,however very poor quality. The abrasive coating wore off after just one or two uses-just sharpening hooks. Don't waste your time or money.

Obviously dart sharpening isn't its intended purpose, but these work SO much better than those crappy round dart sharpeners.

Great little hook sharpener , heavy made , fits perfectly in the pocket

Great pocket sized file. I use it to sharpen my jig hooks as I fish the rivers near by. Confident it won't be the hook point that lets me down if I'm using one of these!
