As a Technical Professional, I love this USB NFC Reader/Writer ACR1252U by ACS
As a Technical Professional, I perhaps have unrealistically high expectations for my electronic purchases. I always expect problems with drivers, firmware or software. HOWEVER - I was pleasantly surprised with this unit. I easily downloaded the driver from the manufacturer (Advanced Card Systems) website. I painlessly installed the Windows 10 driver and a couple of the ACS programs. The software and drivers worked immediately without any problems nor lost time on my part to make it all work. My compliments to ACS!I downloaded some 3rd-party software to test as well. NFC21 programs (free) immediately connected with the reader/writer without any issues. I was very impressed with the NFC21 software working so nicely for my testing of NFC NTag215 disks.Using the ACR1252U Reader/Writer has been great my NFC tag experiments and work. I now have to purchase an additional unit for an employee because I won't share my unit. I am using it daily and don't want the hassle of unplug/plug each time they need to use it. The price was good enough and it works so well for me so far that the labor costs I didn't spend on driver and software installation problems easily pays for a second device.

Perfect for NFC Yubikeys
I purchased this to use in conjunction with a Yubikey 5 NFC for logging into Windows machines as an MFA token (using Authlite on the back end). Once I got it figured out it works perfectly ... but it doesn't work without swapping the drivers for the reader (read on for more).First you have to have Authlite installed on the machine with the NFC support option. When you connect this NFC reader Windows is going to detect it as a generic Microsoft smart card reader, with this driver installed the reader does not work properly. I found that I had to go to the manufacturers website and download the drivers for the reader (they are provided as a convenient MSI file as well for deployment). Once those drivers are installed I could get the reader to work with the Yubikey and it would fill in my MFA value. One thing to remember is the reader will beep twice in this usage ... once when the key is detected, then about a second later the yubikey value will be entered for you, then it beeps again to say its complete.Hopefully that helps someone else down the road. Now that I have that sorted out I'll be able to use the NFC readers in a factory setting to make things a little easier for my users.

It beeps
I bought this to use a Yubi Key with my desktop. Not working with that so I don’t know if does anything but beep. If it is working it was plug and play.

Works with YubiKey
Works perfectly with my Yubikey - no additional software needed. I'm running Windows 11 and the Yubico Authenticator app. To make this reader work with that app, you just need to go into the app's settings, and under the Advanced Settings section, go into the Custom Reader configuration. From there, enable the custom reader feature, and set the reader to ACS ACR1252 Dual Reader PICC 0. Save that setting. From there, just set your Yubikey on the reader (and leave it there). Your 2FA codes will display. For any codes which require your YubiKey to be touched, you can just mouse click on that account to emulate a touch. I'm very happy with this.

Using a SAM? Read This First!
So in all fairness, I probably should have figured out how to open the case and add the SAM card but, as there is ZERO documentation on this despite multiple mentions here and on their site and in their product/technical PDFs I'm docking this two stars. This is the typical documentation oversight that's to be expected from a product direct from China. Anyway I cracked the case thinking the lid would just pop off to expose the board and card slot inside since there's no external slot. The case is now irreparably damaged and it was only at this point that I realized that you can peel back to the rubber feet to reveal tiny screws that will allow you to easily remove the lid. This could have been a single diagram or reference in any one of their multiple sites/documents for this product. It's just for development so no big deal but, could have been painless. At least the code is well documented.
