Great Notebook!!

I really love having this bigger notebook to use for all my classes. First, I have the Livescribe Echo pen, and even though it says for the pulse, it DOES work with the Echo pen as well! yay! Same dot paper and design as your single subject notebook. It is a bit heavier/bulky compared to the single one, which is not an issue for me because it beats having to carry around 3 single subject notebooks for each one of my classes. It has a total of 300 pages front and back and is separated into 100 pages per section by the 2 pocket dividers for a total of 6 very useful pockets. The front inside cover has the standard calculator, status and settings tool, and the back inside cover has the calculator, status, settings and keyboard too. All in all, exactly as the single subject notebook but its 3 in one and smaller than carrying 3 separate notebooks. As with any notebook, it is subject to normal wear and tear, and is about as sturdy as a notebook can be. Because I carry an enormous amount of books, my notebook took a good beating, but is still intact!! :) I did manage to tear one of the pocket dividers on the top because I overloaded it. The rings can be a pain if you have a lot of books; The rings on my notebook would catch and come undone on the bottom a few times, but I just bent them back into place.Overall, I highly recommend this notebook if you are taking several classes and don't want to carry individual notebooks, or if you know your going to be taking a lot of notes and want to keep it all in one notebook.

Regular Sized Paper in a Familiar Package for your Pen

While you have to use special paper to make use of the Livescribe Pen, Livescribe has done their best to not only give you many different options, but several familiar options, like with this 3-Subject Notebook. I have found that I prefer the smaller notebooks for writing, but I am using the 3-Subject for school notes and such.Size: I give this a 4/5. The paper is 8 ½" by 11" college ruled, just like a regular notebook that you can get anywhere. There are a total of 150 pages (300 front and back) so the notebook is rather thick, especially since there are three pocket dividers. For me, I took off a point because this size is rather unwieldy when working on a small desk at school. When you have a limited area of space, it is hard to write in this notebook without twisting uncomfortable. Otherwise, this is just like the regular notebooks you can get at the store.Layout: This gets a 3/5. I do not like the way this notebook is laid out because I feel that a lot of writing space is wasted, but there are couple of good things. The good part is that all of the buttons to control the pen is on each page, unlike the A5 size in which the button are spread over two pages. All 35 lines are full sized, meaning, unlike the A5 size, the last line is not indented in the 3-Subect to fit in the NAV Plus button. Now, to me, the bad part... The papers are hole-punched and perforated with a pinky red line next to it like with regular paper. There is no matching line opposite to it like in regular paper so you can go to the very end of the page (this is good to me). However, when you flip the page so that the holes are on the right side, the line is not by the holes but on the opposite side. This gives you less writing area than on the other side since you cannot go all the way to the end because of the holes and perforated line. This is a bad layout design to me because you lose six lines on one side because of the holes and about an inch over all because of the pinky red line moves you in. it might not seem like a big deal, but with regular paper you have the same amount of writing area between the two red lines. But, this is most likely just me, so feel free to ignore my weirdness.Front and Back Cover: I give this a 5/5. One the front and back covers you are given more buttons to do various functions the pen can perform. On both covers there are four identical bubbles (the back cover has an additional one the front does not have): Calculator, Status, NAV Plus, and Settings. In the calculator bubble, you get the normal calculator buttons on a basic calculator, along with finance, statistic and scientific buttons; so you can do some calculations that show up on the pen display. The status bubble has buttons to check the time, date, battery (how much you have left), storage (how much you have left), audio settings and software version. The NAV Plus button is a cross that is used to navigate the menus in the pen, but this is on every page so you don't need to flip to the cover to use it. The settings bubble has buttons to set up various parts of the pen: time and date, the display (brightness, scroll speed, left/right orientation), volume, and advanced audio (menus voice, playback latency, audio quality, microphone sensitivity). The back cover has an additional bubble that the front cover does not, a keyboard bubble. I don't know why there is a keyboard but there is. All of these control buttons makes it easier to use the pen without needing additional materials to bring around. I haven't used all of the buttons because I don't need some of them, but for those that do, it is nice that they are there.Cost: I give this a 5/5. At $7.95, this notebook is not any more expensive than a regular 3-Subject notebook; despite the fact that all of the little camera capture dots have to be printed on each page. So, if you use the Livescribe Pen, you are not going to spend more on paper than you would with regular paper. I love the fact that Livescribe is not gouging on the price since this is the only type of paper that will work with the pen. It makes it so worth it to get the pen.Liquid Note: While in class, a guy next to me opened an energy drink which slightly exploded and some pink liquid got onto the paper. After it dried, I wrote on it and the pen still captured the writing. I don't know how wet the paper can get before it can no longer be used, but a little liquid won't hurt the effectiveness of the pen capturing the writing.Overall, I give this notebook a 4/5. It works well with the pen and there are not any really bad problems unless you're like me but then the problems are just annoying and can be ignored.

Nice notebooks

Although I have a livescribe pen I don't use it all the time. However I found that these notebooks are actually the best ones for research, notetaking, and journaling because of the amount of paper/line size that they provide.

Great Notebook

This notebook is absolutely amazing! The smart pen controls are all very advanced compared to other notebooks I've used. One of my favorite things about this notebook is the bookmark of smart pen controls it came with; I use this ALL the time. Although it isn't very cheap, it is definitely worth it (at least for the more important classes). The page size is very nice because of how large they are, and the notebook itself is very durable and sturdy!

Good, but beware!

I use my Livescribe notebooks everyday. I have just two complaints - (1) Livescribe/Anoto do a very poor hob of managing supply inventory. Too often I have gone to Livescribe website to order paper of Ink to find a “Out of Stock” posted across the item I need. Ultimately, this leads to poor customer support. I am not confident this will improve. If you need 3 notebooks, buy 6. Plan on re-ordering when you are done with the 3rd book.(2) - The notebook prices are too high.

Your product name needs a number

Each of the three-subject notebooks has a number associated with it for the computer to recognize the source of the notes (1-4). This needs to be listed as part of the product name. It doesn't matter to the computer what color the notebook is; it does matter if it is a number 1, 2, 3, or 4, so that the notes can be stored correctly. Since college students carry more than three subjects (i.e. one 3-subject notebook) per semester, they will need to purchase a second notebook with a number that differs from the first notebook. Example, your blue three-subject notebook should be called Blue #1. The computer recognizes the number, not the color. Students shop for notebooks by number, not color. Two number 1's are pretty useless to a student, since one will have to be saved for the next semester. But a number #1 and #2 or #3 and #4 will meet their needs for 6 subjects.
