IRWINTools VISE-GRIP Locking Pliers, Fast Release, 2-Piece Set (77T)

I’m putting together a mini tool kit. I saw in the description that the pointed vice grips were 6 inches so I ASSUMED that the curved set was too since all the pictures showed them to be the same size. Nope they are the much larger sized 10” set which are way too big for my bag. Nothing at all wrong with them, except I was looking for a smaller tool as pictured.

Great set. I have used both and both worked very well. Maintained their position and grip, feel like quality. Would buy again, but probably won't have to, unless one of my scumbag friends borrows them and doesn't return them.

The design and function of Vise Grips have intrigued me from when I was a young boy. Over the years, modifications to the tool have been made and other sizes of the tool have been introduced. The newer models are a little bit easier to use, but they operate in much in the same way. I do not appreciate Vice Grips until I have a need for them while working on a particular repair or improvement around the house. The Vise Grips are a tool where quality engineering and construction have created a life-long product that is extremely useful. In my opinion, you should have one larger one and one smaller one in your tool bag/chest. The particular Vise Grips advertised in this Amazon web page are ones that I own and recommend with no hesitation. They are strong and well made beyond expectations, reasonably priced, easy to use and are a bargain.

Not suitable for professional use. It has no release lever, which a a big deal for vice grips. Pass over this. Don't get alluree buy the soft bulky grip.

This is my second set of Vice Grip Pliars. The first set lasted for about 20 years and were among my most used tools. They were used, among other things, to extract stripped screws by locking onto the head and turning the screw out. I lost that first set of vice grips by loaning them out. You can buy cheaper locking pliars than the made in USA Erwin Vice Grips, but you get what you pay for. I read an article in popular science magazine that was writing about Vice Grips. It seems that a vice president of the Vice Grip Co. was on a trip to Tiwan. While touring a hardware store he saw a pair of American made Erwin Vice Grip pliars. He asked the proprieter how they could sell higher priced American made products like this in Tiwan. The old man wisely told him "Only in America can people afford to buy tools that don't work".

Good solid tools at a good price. I like the new style mechanism, makes it easier and more user friendly. Works really well.

Easy to unlock

Larger vice grip pliers work great - looks and feels durable. However, the smaller pliers arrived without the adjusting screw due to the only partially enclosed packaging.
