SANUS BF31-B1 31" Speaker Stands for Bookshelf Speakers up to 20 lbs - Black - Set of 2

I got these awhile back and so far find them ideal for my JBL bookshelf speakers. Assembly was easy; just do not over-tighten screws (as other reviewers have stated). Stands are sturdy, they look good, and provide covers to hide and guide wiring. This is a good height stand for my speakers. They do make a shorter model. Just be sure to get the height that allows your speakers to be at ear level.

I don't often review the things I buy, but felt compelled to do so based on some of the other reviews for this item. While shopping for speaker stands for my Polk Monitor SII 30's I came across Sanus as a brand almost immediately. Having not heard of the company I, of course, turned to reviews; many of which made these seem like cheap junk.I was so worried about splitting the wood that I actually started drilling out the holes to one size larger than they were on one of my stands. This proved completely unnecessary. The screws fit nice and tight in the factory, pre-drilled holes. The ones I drilled out had the screws going in much too easily. I assembled the other stand without drilling anything out and there was no splitting, or even signs of splitting (cracking noises). Keep in mind I did all the assembly with a hand screwdriver, which is all you should need considering the pre-drilled holes.There also seems to be some confusion over what these are made of. The stands are "medium desnity fibercore" otherwise known as MDF to any car audio enthusiast. This is a staple of box building material and is used specifically for it's resistance to resonance. It's very dense, and quite substantial, much more so than cheap laminate particle board.The finish on these is interesting. It's a satin black, with quite a bit of texture to it. I was somewhat worried that the rubber pads for the top plate wouldn't adhere well to it due to this texture, but they seem stick on nicely.Finally, the plastic carpet spikes were no trouble to install. I simply inserted them into the base by hand, with minimal effort.All in all, I'd say you can't beat these for the price. I am very happy with my purchase.

Being made of MDF( Medium Density Fiber board) or super dense cardboard & glue. This set of speaker stands are in a matt coating, go together quickly and look nice.For the price you can't go wrong, they'll hold a 9lb bookshelf speaker.A great cheap product for a basement tv room so if a child knocks it over no big loss( Depending on the speaker placed on top). But be warned...in a flood prone basement, these stands once wet will swell up like a Wheatabix cereal😄🤔

I just finished putting together my 3rd pair of these. I bought two pair of these BF-31s and one pair of BF-24s. I experienced the wood-split issue mentioned by others (wood splits in the two vertical pieces near the base and top plate) in the first two pairs, but came up with a solution to avoid it with the 3rd pair. Read on...ASSEMBLYSimple. It takes about 1/2 an hour to assemble one pair. I used a Bosch 14.4 volt drill with clutch set to 3. No matter how slowly I screwed in the screws, the wood would slightly split. Not always in all 8 locations per stand, but at least in half of them. In all cases, the split has not compromised the integrity of the stand, and its severity varies. Another reviewer suggests a replacement screw to use. I was too lazy to go to the hardware store and search. My solution (on the 3rd pair) was simply to drill the hole slightly larger using an 1/8" bit. I had a drill in hand, so it's not like this took much effort and it seemed to work great. Only one location had the slightest, almost invisible, appearance of a split.USEI am using the BF-31s for 4 Sony B1000s as surrounds and the BF-24 for the Sony B3000 as front mains. The heights are PERFECT. I know the ideal location for surrounds is 2 or 3 feet above listening position, but that is not possible in my room arrangement. From my seated position, the bottom of the speaker is right at ear level. The front mains are also perfect height.CONCLUSIONI gave these stands 5 stars despite the wood-split issue because the problem does not affect the stand's performance. They look nice and simple and it really cleans up the look of my home theater. At 35 or so bucks per pair, you cannot go wrong.

They're pretty straightforward and they look great. I really didn't bother with the "cable management" backing they came with and settled for just taping down the cable in the back side of the stand. But they're simple, sturdy and stable, and at this price I don't think you can go wrong.
