Direct replacement for original ladder spring hinges
The brackets are well made and stout. Remember, you have to reuse your original spring.I used some WD40 on the joints, as they were a little stiff when the hinges arrived.The problem with replacing an old hinge is that you have to drill out the rivits holding the pivot assembly to the ladder frame. And, there is a fairly large rivit flang on the outside of the frame, which is impossible to remove on the already installed ladder. So, I shifted the new pivot plates about half an inch towards the spring to get them to fit without interfering with the rivot flanges. This didn't impact how the ladder unfolds and touches the ground much at all.I also connect the springs to the assembly before attaching the bolts to the ladder itself since I was working alone. It is easy to pull the long end of the assembly down one at a time to connect the bolt to the ladder. It took about 90 minutes to remove the old assemblies and install the new ones.

It works, but now the best quality
My main complaint is that the connections are extremely tight; I think that they should pivot more easily. It makes me a little concerned how it will last. The main pivot point is also slightly off center; I just hope it lasts.In my case, it isn't an exact replacement for what I have, but it will work and is way better than replacing the entire attic ladder.

poor manufacturing quality
The previous broke and bougth this as a replacement. It fits pefectly but had the same issue as the one before. The hinges are subject to stress becasuse of friction when open and closing and eventually they break. Also the metal is not aligned well and I had to bang it with a hummer to get it straight. They are not designed for frequent use. As good/bad as the original anyway.

The product was great quality and shipping was excellent unfortunately they wouldn’t work on the staircase I have the return process was just as good thank you very much
