Absolutely amazing as expected from Sofirn, I will definitely be purchasing more products!
A brief review of the Sofirn IF25AOverall this is a very good, high quality light that will fully for-fill the role of any job you use it for. For the money you can’t go wrong, a proper high end and sturdy little piece of kit. Will most likely be purchasing more products off of Sofirn. In depth Review of the Sofirn light IF25AUnboxingThe IF25A arrived later on the same day I purchased it, this is probably the fastest delivery I’ve ever had on a product. The light came in sorfirns signature packaging with all accessories included (the tube to fit a smaller battery, lanyard and spare O-rings). The light itself came in a thin plastic inlay which separated the light itself from the box it came in. In order to use the light you must first unscrew the tail cap and remove a small piece of card breaking the battery circuit to prevent it turning on whilst being shipped, a nice little safety precaution by sofirn.First impressionsI was initially drawn to the conveniently small size of the IF25A and it’s sleek, high end look is easy on the eye. It immediately feels very good quality when holding it in the hand and build structure seems extremely strong and sturdy. The light is a lovely matte black which looks very high end and the light has a certain weight to it where you can feel the quality whilst it being conveniently light enough for every day use. I especially like the extra added features that separates sofirn from all other budget lights in my opinion, e.g. the cooling fins (this time rounded in comparison to the sc31 pro) on the head of the torch, shaped handle so it is comfortable to hold, room to put a lanyard on the tail cap, and the signature glowing sofirn control button. The torch is a lot shorter that other torches I own but the IF25A really does make up for it in its thickness which allows for a comfortable grip and along with the lanyard assures the light will not fall ( this would not be an issue anyway as the light has been drop tested from large heights). Despite this the light is slightly smaller than I would prefer to use for an extended period of time, but this allows it to be carried easily and effortlessly. The light is excellently machined and will (from my first impressions) suit very well as an every day carry. With the build quality comes no sharp edges on this light and working hand in hand with the size allowed me to fully wrap my hand round it in a relaxed grip assured that the light would not fall. The usb type C charging port was easy to find yet doesn’t get in the way, the rubberised cap to the port doesn’t only allow the light to be fully waterproof, but also allows the port to blend in seamlessly with the light adding to the sleek design. The signature button is conveniently placed on the top of the light and allowes the user to easily acces all functions of the light. I also took notice to the thickness of the glass covering the LEDs, the glass seems extremely thick, strong and scratch proof. I believe that the head of this torch takes the standards of sofirn lights to another level. Having never used a light with 4 LEDs before, I assume with the size of the battery in the IF25A will allow for quadruple the amount of light. With my experiences with sofirn I can almost garuntee that the light will live up to the high expectations set out by the (in my opinion) best brand for budget flashlights, sofirn.First impressions consWhilst this light is almost perfect for me, I do believe that it’s weight may limit it to not being fitted in a trouser pocket, whilst it will still sit comfortably in any other pocket. I believe that sofirn may be able to massively improve the product by raising the blocks on the handle for even more grip, or possibly put the checkering on them as they did with the SC31 pro. Both would be more ideal. I also think that the cooling fins should be slightly larger and stretch almost the entire way round the light because I assume that the 3800 lumens thrown out by the light may cause it to get a bit hot. Also considering that the cooling fins on this light are as deep as others I have purchased by sofirn. I also believe a magnetic tail cap would suit this light nicely Incase you would ever need to use it to light up an area e.g. workspace, from above. I also believe that the light would be strong enough to be held up sideways on a surface due to its fair weight. I believe that these changes would allow sofirn to overtake more expensive brands, even though they already have the quality to match.TestNow having two lights from Sofirn, my opinion is now consolidated and the IF25A has help me reach the conclusion that Sofirn, in my opinion, is by far the best budget brand of flashlights. The light performance was more than better than I could have predicted. The entire 3800 lumens spread out with the 4, LED bulbs, was plenty enough to fully light up the area where it was tested. The battery life was more than adequate and was barely affected by the 3 hours use it endured during the night (although the light became hot as predicted which is pretty standard with lights this powerful). The IF25A 100% takes the number 1 spot as my go-to every day carry but despite this it is not my cup of tea. Don’t get me wrong, it is a great light but I personally have much more use in throwers and will most likely be purchasing one from Sofirn (perhaps the SP70, C8G, SF22 or most hopefully the SF47T )to see if the throwers from the “best budget brand” live up to the high expectation I now have for them.

High quality light with USB-C charging
Note: I'm somewhat of a collector of flashlights and this review may be more detailed than you're expecting. Hopefully it's helpful to some though.Overall the Sofirn IF25A has a few minor issues but they’re balanced out by the power, capabilities and features of the light, as well as the great price, so it gets 5 stars from me.The IF25A is small but powerful budget light. It takes a 21700 cell and has 4 SST20 LEDs, pumping out up to 3800 lumens. It has an E-switch and uses the Anduril flashlight user interface. It also has USB-C charging built into the light. The IF25A is an updated version of the Sofirn IF25. The updated version sacrifices the tint ramping for more lumens*** Dimesnsions ***Size 106.4mm length × 35mm head diameter. I measured the body between and 25.4mm and 31.0mmWeight 99g without battery. I measured 165g with the 21700The IF25A is pretty small for a 21700 light and is the shortest one I’ve seen. It’s shorter than Sofirn’s SC31B and SP40, both of which are 18650 lights. The Lumintop FW21, FW21 Pro, Zebralight SC700d and SC700Fd as a few mm shorter but taking 21700 cells.*** The box ***The IF25A comes in a printed cardboard box, which includes the cell and a few extras:- Sofirn IF25A flashlight- 4000mAh cell- a 65mm long 18650 to 21700 sleeve- Manual- USB-A to USB-C cable- Lanyard- Spare O-rings*** Appearance and quality ***The IF25A is well machined but it has sharp corners on the fins and lanyard hole. This hasn’t caused any issues with daily use but doesn’t feel as high quality as other lights, including some of Sofirn’s. The rest of the body is chamfered nicely. Anodising and threads seem good, just like Sofirn’s other lights.*** Cell compatibility ***The IF25A has a medium-thick spring on the tail end and a flat connection on the head end. 21700 cells fit in well and don’t loose connection when the light is knocked. Longer 18650 cells (button top or ones with protection or circuit) are fine too but I found a flat top 18650 (VTC5A) would loose connection when the IF25A was shaken. I’d recommend button top 18650 cells or any 21700 cell for this. The white sleeve is also a bit loose in the IF25A and you can hear it move around a bit when shaken or tilted. A bit of paper between the sleeve and light fixes this.*** Carrying and everyday use ***There’s no pocket clip with the IF25A but it comes with a (sharp!) lanyard hole. The lanyard hole is on one edge and still allows tail standing. Without a clip though, it either needs to be loose in a pocket or in a pouch with a belt clip. That makes it not quite as good for EDC. There’s a couple of places on the body that a clip could go but you’d need one that stretched to 25.4mm. The IF25A would fit in a pocket if you’re used to carrying large 18650-sized lights. Without a clip and with a fairly round smooth body the IF25A rolls quite a bit when on a table. This made photos awkward and I dropped it a couple of times.*** Interface and switch ***The IF25A has a lighted E-switch and uses the Anduril UI. The basics is:- Click on- Click off- Hold to change brightnessBut there's all sorts of other modes in the manual.Sofirn have used a slightly older version of Anduril, so doesn’t have a few of the newer features like showing the build version. There doesn’t seem to be easy access to the driver (at least with my skill level) if you wanted to update it. As with most Anduril lights, there’s thermal throttling that might need configuring with a special series of clicks. Otherwise it may step down from turbo too quickly or too slowly. Mine said it room temperature was 26°C when it was actually 21°C. The switch itself has 2 green indicating LEDs on it and seems to click well.*** Cell and USB-C charging ***Sofirn IF25A comes with built in USB-C charging under a rubber cover. The cover seems fairly good but as with nearly all built in charging, it’ll make the light less waterproof. The IF25A lacks the circuitry to support the use of a C-to-C charging cable, so needs an A-to-C one. I saw the IF25A charge at up to 1.3A. The e-switch lights up red when charging and green when done. You can also power the light via USB, though not to maximum brightness. The red indicating light comes on when you do this, to show it’s taking current from the charger. I noticed that Anduril’s candlelight mode flickered the green and red indicating light when USB powered, to make a nice orange colour.*** Light output ***As with other Anduril lights, the IF25A has smooth brightness ramping, so you can pick any brightness from around 1 lumen up to the maximum of 3800 lumens. You can also change it to stepped ramping and specify your own min, max and number of steps. The IF25A uses 4 TIR optics instead of 4 reflectors. This means the light can be shorter and seems to help make a smoother graduation between hotspot and spill. The PWM isn’t noticeable to my eyes on the IF25A. You can also take the optic out, and put the bezel back on, which changes the light into an almost 180° wide angle mule. This is great for indoor use.
