I learned something...

I love vogue, but I was hesitant to watch this documentary because I thought it'd be pretentious. I'm glad I watched it, because I learned so much about the process of creating the photograph. I didn't know about fashion editors let alone what they did. This will cause me to look at those pictures in the magazine in a totally different way, perhaps now I maybe looking for the story their trying to tell and not just checking out the clothes. It's worth a watch. I quite enjoyed it.

Must Watch!

Fashion spreads have been a way for me to escape into the dark, whimsical world of the fashion elite. There has been a fascination with the concept of the spread. Namely, how the editor can evoke so much emotion and sensuality using fashion to tell the current state of the world. The reason I chose this documentary, specifically, is because Vogue is the most known and respected fashion magazine. Anna Wintour is so intriguing, and embarked this new life of fashion. Allowing designers to brand themselves as 'wearable,' and most importantly accessible. I wish there were more documentaries on the trends in fashion. More so, what Anna Wintour thinks about "fast fashion," which I can imagine is complete disinterest.

Candy for your sweet tooth

This level of fashion is frivolous and indulgent. Having said that it's fascinating to get a peak behind the lens.At this level it felt very much like an art form, catering to an elite lifestyle. I can also appreciate the dichotomy of women expressing themselves in a world oddly dominated by the men who design so many of the clothes. I also found it ironic when asked at he outset... it appeared not one could define what a fashion editor does.

The best fashion documentary of the decade!!!

Anna Wintour is a powerhouse, we know that, she's the queen of the fashion industry. I loved her style and vision for US Vogue right from the start, then came the movie/documentary "The September issue", that showed the whole world what it really takes to create the perfect fashion magazine and its most important issue. With this DVD, it's a whole new game: the editors, their visions, how they prepare for their shoots, their personalities, the secrets behind some of the most renowned photos in Fashion. Just AMAZING!!! I've been addicted to this DVD and saw it more than 10 times already, I'm not kidding: the music, the editing, the voices, their inspirational talks, everything. GREAT FILM!

Highly educative

This documentary focuses on the Fashion Directors of Vogue, a post that not may people in the business of fashion can really explain at all, not because they don't know what the job is about, but because the postition requires a lot of unique interdiciplinary talents. They present to new generations (like me) the old "queens" that actually improved or did somethign remarkable while doing their jobs at Vogue magazine with the photographic content of the issues.I really recomend it. I didn't loved it as much as the September Issue documentary, but still It's a must have if you want to work in this industry and learn more before actually getting into it.

it is fascinating to learn how much of what appears ...

it is fascinating to learn how much of what appears in Vogue stems from the tastes of its editors. I would have thought there was much more collaboration, more decision-making by committee in putting together a monthly issue, but I was wrong. All those editors, photographers, stylists, etc. are searching for something they can't quite define, but they know it when they see it. Just as in music, there is a mystery at the heart of it.

An Interesting and Different Documentary.

This is the first time I have even seen a documentary about Vogue. It has been around for decades and seems to have successfully evolved not only with fashion but with the times. The history was fascinating as well as documenting the wide a varied individuals who have run this publication over the years. I would recommend this to anyone. Even those who are not fashionistas..

Poorly done documentary

It was disconcerting for several reasons: they are not true to the actual events. For example,Versace's partner did not go with him the morning he was killed, he stayed at home; secondly, and more seriously, it drove me crazy that the film used stand-in actors to represent the main characters! I tolerated it for a short time but couldn't finish watching. It was too disturbing.
