WORTH EVERY CENT!! The best catch/spin device I’ve used so far.

I’m so glad I got this! I previously had a Go Plus (that I accidentally washed and dried) and a Pokeball Plus (that I accidentally dropped in the grass and then ran over with a lawnmower). Neither of them did auto spin and auto catch, though, even before their unfortunate demise.I carefully researched the 3 Gotcha versions, as well as a few other random devices, and decided to go with the Gotcha Evolve, mostly because of the screen. I also preferred the look of Evolve’s wrist band. I’d read about potential issues with the recharging plug be broken off, but I think that if you’re reasonably careful detaching the wristband, you’ll be fine. And if you’re the kind of person who isn’t careful, maybe consider springing for the protection plan.I get great battery life on a recharge, and it doesn’t take that long to reach full power. I love that you can see how much battery you have left on the screen. There’s an app you can download to change the settings on your Evolve, but I never use the app, as it’s easier for me to alter the settings directly on the watch. I appreciate the fact that I can quickly turn off the auto function if, say, I don’t want to spin stops because I’m trying to save a spot open for a red egg.As for fit, the band stays on securely around my wrist. I only use one of the two keepers because it can take a little longer to put it on and take it off. However, I rarely wear it on my wrist because, as a smaller female, the watch face is so huge on my arm that it doesn’t fit well. I tend to just stick it in a pocket when I’m walking or buckle it to a belt loop.I personally never use the time or step functions since I have my phone. It’s true what has been said about the vibrations being pretty much unnoticeable, especially when not on your wrist. I leave that function off.The watch does turn off after 30 minutes. Sometimes it will still display as being “on” in the game, but then I notice that it’s not catching or spinning. If the game shows the watch is off, I just have to reconnect, but if it hasn’t realized the Evolve has shut down, I need to restart the app and then reconnect. It’s only a minor annoyance.Speaking of connecting the Evolve to my game, I’d say it’s easy to do 90% of the time, as long as I have a decent WiFi or data connection. A weak signal can stop it from connecting. For the 10% of the time when it has trouble, a simple restart almost always solves the problem. The Evolve is on par with the Go Plus and Pokeball Plus when it comes to registering stops or Pokémon. Usually when it won’t pick up on them, I can get it to notice them by either facing the target and making sure I’m zoomed all the way in or tapping the watch to wake up the screen. Otherwise, I restart the app and reconnect. But for me, the Evolve is no worse than the Plus or Pokeball devices were. Sometimes they just don’t “see” them for whatever reason.Last comments on catching/spinning: overall catch rate for me is probably less than 50% with the Evolve when travel speed is at or below game limits. This is about the same as my rate with the other devices. Like them, the Evolve definitely increases spawns, catches, and spins when I’m driving faster than regular cutoff speeds. Increased spawns still occur around 35-50ish mph, but successful auto catch and spin rates are much lower. It rarely does anything at highway speeds of 55+ mph.All-in-all, the Evolve has been worth every cent. It’s been great for helping me grind stardust, especially when I’m randomly driving around or am busy doing something else on my phone. (The app doesn’t need to be open on the screen to do its job, you just have to make sure you’re connected.) It’s also great for catching unexpected shiny when you can’t play. It’s always a great surprise to look through you dex and find a shiny that the Evolve caught in the background. I do turn off the auto catch feature when I’m shiny hunting because I don’t want to take the chance of it running away (like other devices, the Evolve will only throw one regular Pokeball and then give up). That being said, I haven’t yet had a shiny run away from an Evolve throw. Not sure if I’m just lucky, though.I highly recommend the Evolve for all serious and semi-serious players. Though it isn’t perfect, it’s still as good as—and often better than—all the other similar devices.

You'll need 100+ plain pokeballs per day & bigger pokemon storage b/c this thing works!

UPDATE: ten months later. 16,445 pokemon caught. 8,050 pokestops visited. Raising my rating to 5 stars because I found solutions to my earlier 1-star deduction. This thing is a game-changer!1. If you go into the game settings > Pokemon GO Plus > and click off "Nearby Pokemon" the game stops telling the go-tcha when pokemon are nearby and it ONLY spins stops, thus refilling your items with pokeballs. I can refill in a busy place in about an hour, then change that setting and get back to catching automatically.2. Snug it to your wrist and you'll feel the vibration. You can also hear it if it's sitting on a hard surface.3. Ten months of daily usage and the strap is still snug over the USB charger, it hasn't broken, and it still charges to full in 1-2 hours. You'll be a stylish Pokemon-catching B0SS with this tech! It spots any pokemon in range (including some you can't see on-screen) and proceeds to fling basic pokeballs until it's caught or it runs away. You have to tell it which types you want it to catch: you can choose new (unknown, not in your pokedex), known (previously caught), or both. I just leave it on both, but if you are serious about new pokemon then you know you need to use the better balls + berries (raspberries, golden raspberries, or silver pineapples) to give you the best chance of landing that sweet new pocket monster. It also spins standalone and gym pokestops if you are going less than 30 miles per hour (slower is better - I'll actually brake down to 15 if no one is behind me). I docked a star for a few reasons:1. It prioritizes pokemon catching to the point that it won't necessarily spin pokestops. This is a problem when you are low on pokeballs and trying to stock back up. You can still spin them yourself on your phone.2. The vibration is ridiculously weak. I have to hold it up to my ear to hear the vibration noise.3. Ripping off the band in order to recharge it is pretty scary. The band secures pretty tightly, but it is rubber while the recharge prong is plastic so it'll probably be okay for a couple of years. Hopefully. Wireless charging would be better, as would a usb charging port - maybe in the next version.None of these are dealbreakers, and I like the fitness-band look. The built-in pedometer seems overly generous, but seeing how many thousands of steps I rack up every day is kind of an ego boost lol. Thankfully my iPhone is brutally honest. If you can keep the plain pokeballs stocked then this device WILL automatically rack up thousands of experience points every day. You just have to keep buying incense, transferring extra pokemon to keep storage available (don't forget to appraise and search inventory for 4* . Google it - it's important.), and do some active stop spinning and you'll be leveling like crazy.
