it just works
A few months ago, we moved our office to another floor, and didn't feel like running cables everywhere. So, I added this wireless adapter to my Windows XP Pro desktop build and left the router (a D-Link Wireless DIR-615 N Router, 4-Port 10/100 Switch, 2 Antennas, Draft 802.11n) downstairs.Had zero issues with installation, and it just works. Didn't have to change any router settings. The computer is on another floor, and the tower is in a corner on the floor, but still has "excellent" signal strength, at 270 Mbps. I haven't had the usual issues that I tend to have with wireless cards, where I have to reset or repair the connection due to some random system hiccup.I want to buy more of these adapters for our other computers (two laptops) since they are both stuck at wireless-G (54 Mbps) and I want more!!! We're probably going to just end up with new laptops, though, that have wireless-N.Side note about compatibility:I made sure to purchase this over some other wireless adapters because this one is compatible with Vista and Windows 7 in 64 bit (the version of the D-Link DWA-130 Wireless N USB Adapter that I have is NOT 64 bit compatible, there are certain hardware revisions that are, but it's hard to tell which one you are purchasing). Do not underestimate the value of being 64 bit compatible, especially for hardware devices, because unlike software, you will oftentimes just be totally out of luck in getting that hardware to work on the system unless the manufacturer decides to release a new driver. 64 bit is the way all computers will eventually run so that they can have more than 4 GB of RAM, so you're just future-proofing yourself. Use the Windows Compatibility Center to check, even if you're on an older OS right now -->[...]

Good receiver with great price
I bought this to replace my old dlink wireless G adapter. My old one doesn't support windows 7, but I downloaded a driver from another model and it worked... whatever... old story...This receiver is great because it's getting better signal than my old one even on wireless G mode. Fully compatible with windows 7 64bit without driver. Just plug and play! Some people they don't understand how wireless N works and keep complaining why the wireless N router + wireless N receiver but only run on wireless G mode. Please open your eye and read this:If you want your network running wireless N, ALL clients who link to the router MUST use wireless N receiver. If one of them using wireless G, sorry, everyone in the same network will only run wireless G.Also, it's not a new model but running model. With this low price, worth to buy.

Solid Adapter
I just received this today after having numerous issues with my old Netgear Wireless-G USB adapter randomly losing it's connection. Since I had previously purchased a DLink DIR-625 router that's been rock solid for 4 months, I figured i'd buy the proper adapter to go with it for wireless N speeds.Installation was straight forward, and I found DLink's connection app far more intuitive and simple then Netgear's, although I prefer the built in Windows manager. Connecting and installation was easy, and signal strength was solid. I dig the base that it comes with to sit on my desk, which is also heavier then I thought it would be. So far no problems on my Vista Ultimate 64 system and i'm connected at 270 Mbps although it fluctuates a bit. I give it 4 stars as there isn't anything particularly special about the adapter. It does the job it's supposed to, and it's sad how difficult it sometimes is to find something like it. I've been pretty happy with DLink and their Rangebooster N products while I had an old Netgear Wireless G router die on me and now issues with their USB adapter. Definitely recommend.

Fantastic Product
I wanted an easy to install, reliable, inexpensive wireless network interface for a new computer in my home.Simply said, this was perfect.I loaded the software, plugged it in, and that was it. Worked instantly and since then, flawlessly. It was inexpensive, (under $50 delivered). It has not lost connection with my home network since install.Couldn't be happier, and couldn't recommend this more emphatically.A side note of significance: this product can be plugged into the computer in any USB slot, but additionally has a base unit with a "dongle", (a usb cord that attaches from the base to your PC). Because of this, instead of potentially having to "re-adjust/shift" your computer to find an ideal "sending" position, you need only move the base...VERY handy!

Good range, good performance in a high-rfi environment
Pros: This unit lives behind my living room curtains, attached to my server. My VDSL2+ gateway lives in another room because that's where the cat 5 run shows up; c'est la vie. It detects a total of 12 other WiFi routers at useable signal levels- and still keeps me connected. In my situation, it's definitely worth the extra money. It also seems to run a bit cooler than some of the gear I've had in the past- and given the fact that it's 8 feet off the floor where temperatures are often higher, that makes a difference too. I'd recommend this unit to anyone who needs a dependable connection that's easy to install.Cons: It lives behind a curtain because someone saw fit to have the LED on it blink as it sends and receives data. It's bright, it's orange, and it's distracting when you're streaming video or gaming. A spot of black nail polish might work- but the ideal fix would be a firmware switch made available during the initial setup to defeat it. I'm not taking a star off because I don't like the way it looks, but I thought others might take more issue with it than I did.
