Works the Best

I've had a 1/2-acre Flowtron bug zapper for many years and it still works. I've had other brands and other sizes from Flowtron. I've also had them with the bright light blue lights and with the dark UV lights. In my experience, the bright light blue light works the best. But by far, the 1/2 acre size with the bright light blue light is the one that works better than any of the others. Since my original one has worked so well for these years, I decided to order four more. Yesterday, I put them up in four different locations of our 1-1/2 acre rural property. The pictures show the results after just the first night. Two of them are on our house (front and back), one is outside the garage, and one is on our detached dining deck (not over any eating area!). Our original one is in the chicken runs and we still have to clean it out almost every two or three days. The pictures are of one of the new ones, each in a different location. As you can see, the results are amazing!Yes, despite claiming to be clog-free, they still do clog up. But they are fairly easy to clean. I use a compressed air hose. You could use some of that canned air, that you can get at most any store, that's normally used for blowing out computer keyboard and other electronic devices. The bugs come off pretty easily (a few might get stuck on there). And yes, the power cord is super short, so you'll need a 3-prong extension cord. If you want the bug zapper to hang straight, you'll need to have a cord long enough to have some slack at the zapper. Me? I don't care if they're straight or not, as long as they work, which they do.Yes, they can be noisy, especially the first few nights when the bug population is the most. Just don't put them outside your bedroom window if you leave the window open!I do replace the bulbs once a year, which is fairly easy to do since you don't have to take anything apart.I don't use the octenol packet that comes with the zappers. First of all, the bugs (mosquitoes) are attracted enough, and second of all, I don't want to spend the money or the effort to replace them every month.I would wholeheartedly recommend this product.

Kills mosquitoes and other unpleasant flying insects

Works great, kills the bugs, not just mosquitoes. (Refer to picture). No complaints.Just heads up that you’ll need an extension cord since the plug is very short.

Works fine cord is very short

Cord length is horrible, machine works immediately. We literally plugged it in and it started popping and sizzling bugs. Left it running overnight and all I can say is it's great for us, bad for anything that flies and can fit through the opening. Moths, termites, beetles and mosquitoes. Mosquitoes got welded to the rods and sizzled. Everything else fell through the bottom.Comes with a bait pad for mosquitoes, but we didn't put it in. Didn't need to. Bugs are attracted to it en masse. I recommend it, but the cord length is not good, and using a heavy extension cord pulls it to one side.I'd recommend it. Light weight. Easy to use.

You don't have to wonder if... THIS THING WORKS!

I didn't believe all the hype (at first) about Flowtron bug lamps... but 7 years ago, I got one. (It's still running, by the way... unlike the half-dozen 'other' brands I've used. Change your bulbs once a year to keep the attraction levels high.)My mosquito problem was EPIC, and I'm their favorite snack. When I tell you that I could go to an outdoor gathering, and be the only guy getting bit, I'm not joking. Something had to give, and Flowtron made it happen. In Louisiana & Florida, no less. There's a few KEYS to winning the battle. You MUST learn to be successful... here they are:1.) Bug lamps ATTRACT mosquitos. NEVER place them near your outdoor area. Place them AWAY (like the instructions tell you).2.) Run them constantly, every night, even when there's not a problem anymore. This is the only way to collapse the colony, and see results. DON'T only turn them on when you're headed outdoors! That'll multiply your problem.3.) Every time it storms, a new colony will blow into your area. You'll have to wait a couple days to let the killing catch up with the new population.4.) The first few days after a storm will always feel like you haven't won the battle... DON'T stop. Keep with the program. In 2-3 days, you'll have them back under control.5.) Don't run the lamp during a storm (rain & wind) but restart it immediately thereafter.6.) NEVER turn a bug zapper on, only for a party. It's not a cool lantern or a light-show, it's a tool. You have to use it daily, to see results. It's not a can of insecticide. It's a mousetrap. You've got to give it time to work, and preferably not while you're standing around watching it.7.) Blood is more attractive than a light... if both are present, you're getting bit. Unless you've already followed 1-6.The attached picture was taken one week after a storm, which was proceeded by a thorough cleaning. I used my leaf blower to clear out the carcasses. I had birds that perched on my shepherd's hook, to feast below it, every morning. This is ONE WEEK worth of skeeters. It's like a drain-clog.This thing WORKS! You've just got to do your part. Use it as intended, not as a disco ball that's only on while you're partying. If you do, you'll enjoy some lovely, bug-free yard time.Draw them away, attract them, kill them, repeat until they've got nobody to make babies with. If visitors show up from out of town, repeat the process. They never fully get the message, but you'll put a big enough dent in them to actually enjoy your outdoors time. You can thank me later... just hit the "helpful" button below.Getcha one, and put the hurt on your bloodthirsty pest population! 100% FULLY RECOMMENDED.

Effective product, made in the USA.

Works well, made in the USA. I placed it about 20' away (per instructions) and even without the scent stick (included) mosquitos were attracted and generally stayed over there away from our seating area. I hung it from a shepherd's crook at about 5 1/2 feet above the ground. Use this with a dunk bucket (check out youtube for info) and you should be able to enjoy the outdoors nearly bite-free. This product needs an electric outlet to be usable. Sometimes corded IS better!
